MY YANKEE CANDLE WEEK : WEDDING DAY, SERENGETI SUNSET, VANILLA CLOUDS, FRANKINCENSE and more (2 we 23 Aug)

Ahh holidays. We look forward to them so much and they are over so quickly. Fortunately the memories live on forever. And this year’s holiday was enhanced just a little by Yankee Candle, but more on that later.

Pre holiday week burning began with Loves Me Loves Me Not for probably the last time this year. This lovely bright floral captures the atmosphere of carefree summer days.

Wedding Day was next. It’s a stunning blend of white florals mixed with an elegant perfume. So complex and one for the real Yankee connoisseur.

Fireside Treats has a sweet marshmallow aroma and it definitely puts you in the outdoors mood with its hint of smokiness.

Turquoise Sky is great for hot days and rainy days alike. One of the strongest watery soapy type scents that Yankee Candle do, it’s delightful!

And on holiday we go! We packed small jars of Madagascan Orchid and Serengeti Sunset and also took our Scenterpiece systems with us.

Madagascan Orchid I have to admit is my least favourite of the new ‘Out Of Africa’ range. That isn’t to say it isn’t pleasant and it has (to my senses anyway) a kind of honey-tinged floral sweetness.

Serengeti Sunset I like more and more. Underneath the lovely citrus orange is a complicated blend of amber and other notes. I look forward to exploring it more depth via the large jar at a later date.

And for Scenterpiece we used Under The Palms (half a votive in a melt cup works a treat and lasts for hours), Pineapple Cilantro and Lemon Lavender.

Back home all too soon and to enjoy our home comforts we had a treat with a rare burn of Vanilla Clouds. Lighter than I remember it, this scent has a perfume tinged vanilla feel to it. If you’ve ever come across Lakeside Birch, it is in the same ballpark as that scent.

Frankincense followed and this new favourite goes well on almost any evening. We’ve bought 3 jars of it already!

Honeydew Melon took us into Sunday with its juicy sweet notes.

It was a slightly wet afternoon and Ocean Blossom suited the day a treat. It has a lovely, powdery water floral aroma and is always wonderful.

To wrap up the couple of weeks I used Amber Moon. Quite a light fragrance it emits a delicate warming feel with its amber notes.
