And the
seasons will change… whether we like it or not! The long August weekend in the
UK had a decidedly autumnal feel about it, particularly on holiday Monday so I
scratched around at the back of my yankee cupboard (oh, ok cupboards!) for a
suitable scent. The last week also saw us move and change around our display
cabinet a bit too.
The week
started with a melt of Macintosh. Lovely ripe red apples on the tree, perfect
for this time of year!
Red
Raspberry was my first jar burn and it has been a while since I used it. A
pleasant raspberry aroma, it is one of the more straight ahead Yankee
fragrances.
Waikiki
Melon was next as the nights were still warm and this tropical tinged melon is
a long time favourite.
The
stunningly wonderful Evening Air with its delicate unique perfume is always a
special treat.
Nothing says
the weekend like Paradise Spice with its spiced banana aroma.
…that is of
course unless you happen to have Bahama Breeze burning in another room at the
same time. I still can’t believe Yankee Candle retired this fragrance, it is
one of their best ever. More than any other scent it captures the feel of
tropical waters and exotic fruit.
Coconut
& Vanilla Bean kicked off Saturday with its rich, warming notes.
During the
day we moved and switched around our cabinet. I think we’ve covered all bases
for the next couple of months. If we get an Indian Summer we’re ready, autumnal
weather – check, and there is Halloween ready to jump into action too!
River Valley
was on the go during the day, with its crisp, fresh watery aroma.
The evening
saw an increasingly rare burn of Pink Lady Slipper. It actually smells pink
with its youthful perfume aroma – one of a kind!
Sunday saw
the lovely aloe, melon and cucumber of Aloe Vera start the day.
This was
followed by Kilimanjaro Stars in the evening. Deliciously atmospheric this new
scent is another aftershave-like winner from Yankee Candle.
Holiday
Monday saw Coastal Waters with its sea air bracing feel accompany the wet
morning.
Then
Camouflage took us through the equally wet afternoon. This surprisingly light
wet earth and grassy fragrance brings the outdoors indoors.
A cooler
evening and after such an autumnal day it was good to finish the week with the
deep cakey notes of Vanilla Cupcake.
