MY YANKEE CANDLE WEEK : SICILIAN ORANGE, MOROCCAN ARGAN OIL, NAPA VALLEY SUN, PINK GRAPEFRUIT & more (we 6 Sep)

Just as it seemed that we were settling in for an early autumn, an unexpected and rather pleasant few days of Indian Summer have come to pass. Luckily when we rearranged our main cabinet last week, we had all eventualities covered so all Yankees were to hand!

I started the week with a melt of Almond Cookie. I don’t think I’ve used this one before. It basically is like an almond version of Christmas Cookie – so very biscuity and bakery like. Quite pleasant.

Pink Dragonfruit is always a lot of fun. It has such a lively, joyful bright fruitiness to it.

Ginger Dusk bridges the seasons beautifully. Its lemony verbena blended with soft creamy ginger is always a real treat. I’ve loved this fragrance from the very first moment I smelled it.

Sicilian Orange from the World Journeys tumbler series is so like freshly squeezed orange juice but with a delicate warmed feel. Truly lovely!

Then it was a tale of two rooms on Friday night….

I had the exotic and delightful Moroccan Argan Oil with a bit of Led Zeppelin (Kashmir & Moroccan Argan Oil – sensory heaven!)

While my wife was watching tv with Angel’s Wings. The delicate warm sugar notes of Angel’s Wings I haven’t enjoyed since last winter, so it was like welcoming back an old friend.

Saturday kicked off with Napa Valley Sun. This is another that spans the seasons magnificently. Not only great in the height of summer – but it has that feel and look of a wheat harvest all gathered in too.

Grapevine & Oak is the perfect “wine o’ clock” fragrance, one of the most truly magnificent Yankee scents.

Sunday kicked off with a pleasant burst of Pink Grapefruit.

This was followed by Beach Flowers which went nicely with the warm September afternoon.

Into the evening with the late summer/early autumn feel of Lake Sunset – and I was finally able to tick the box of this month’s TEAM YANKEE first Sunday of the Month burn. The theme was a mixology of summer and autumn scents and lovely Ann has compiled everyone’s photos in an album on the group. There were some terrific combinations used, I read each and every one of them.

Oh and what is that I am seeing  on the horizon? Could it be some kind of Yankee Candle party combined with Halloween festivity? Let’s just say I’ve been talking with a few friends and close acquaintances over the past week or so and something may be happening in October at my house! There may be an extremely limited number of spaces available for others who’d like to attend and I hope to announce something on TEAM YANKEE in a week or two. Keep your eyes peeled. (Here’s what happened last year).
