The seasons
continue to shift slightly with cooler weather now across the UK. Planning to
give our Yankee Candle display a more indian summer / autumnal feel at the
weekend, we took the opportunity to have one last week of summer favourite
Yankee Candles, mixed with others that hint at the cooler, darker times just
around the corner.
To start the
week was a Macintosh melt. This deep, pure, slightly sweet apple fragrance
brought to mind picking apples off the tree in our garden, just as we had been
doing for the past few weeks.
Our oil
separated Strawberry Buttercream was next – this is probably the last decent
photo of it. We couldn’t get much from the candle this time around as I think
most of the fragrance oil had sunk to the bottom. Still at a loss to know what
caused this. I think for any subsequent use we’ll turn the jar upside down for
an hour or so before use (thanks Ann for the tip!).
Into midweek
and my wife fancied a burn of Plumeria – so who was I to say no?! Plumeria is a
lovely highly perfumed scent, I just wish this one was a little stronger. It
smells great before lighting, but the throw of the candle is light to medium.
Sage &
Citrus was next, a real ‘change in the seasons’ treat. If Plumeria is lady’s
perfume, Sage & Citrus has a man’s aftershave feel in with the mixed notes
of light herb and citrus. A really lovely fragrance and it reminds me of going
out wearing a nice scent on an atmospheric autumnal day.
Camomile Tea
with its sweet honeyed tea notes is a lovely early morning candle and it
certainly got Friday off to a good start.
This was
followed with the light spicy goodness of Pineapple Cilantro. Certainly not shy
this fragrance, if you are looking for a bold, slightly lively fruit scent –
you can’t go wrong with this one.
Golden Sands
probably had its farewell for the year on Friday night. This one smells like
the scent a younger woman would wear. It’s orangey, warm and quite delightful.
After a long
day trip to the seaside on Saturday, we lit Midsummer’s Night when we got home.
Oh what a joy it always is to light this beautiful richly scented candle.
Into Sunday
and another farewell to summer with Melon & Lime from 2013’s Cool Pops
range. The melon is the predominant note. I don’t think I’ve ever come across
Melon ice cream – but if I did, this is what I’d expect it to smell like!
Under The
Palms followed and its sweet, youthful coconut aroma soon filled the room. Such
an unusual twist on coconut, it really does bring to mind lying underneath palm
trees on a tropical island.
A melt of
the delectable Bahama Breeze followed, before the week was wrapped up with the
delicious new fragrance Ginger Dusk. A zesty fragrance with a definite but not
overpowering ginger feel to it, this one is highly recommended from the latest
Yankee Candle releases.
And last but
never least, a selected photograph from our of our lovely Team Yankee Global Facebook members. This week I’ve picked one by Iza from Poland who loves
chocolate type candles – it’s Whoopie Pie!
