Ahh,
holidays, holidays, holidays. My main one was a bit later this year but we were
away (in the UK) all last week. What fab weather we had too, never thought I’d
pick up a deep sun tan in mid September!
Anyway, that
is my excuse for no diary last week, so here’s a two week summary of my latest
burns, plus the usual guest appearance from our fabulous Team Yankee Global Facebook Yankee Candle fan group.
Winding way
back to two weeks ago, we are still burning and trying to use up our oil
separated Strawberry Buttercream. It still smells lovely, even though visually
it looks like something from a horror film!
Vanilla Lime
was next and we are getting low on our medium jar (but fortunately we have a
large jar back up!). Vanilla Lime is one of those uniquely perfect scents that
epitomise Yankee Candle.
Berrylicious
followed and gave a fruity taste of the autumn. A delicious combination of
blueberries, grape and a baked cake feeling, this autumn limited edition scent
is a real winner and very strong.
Beach Wood
can be temperamental as it is a light scent but we had no issues with this
burn. Its delightful oily fantasy fragrance really got us in the mood for our
forthcoming seaside holiday.
Mountain
Pine has become my staple for the terrific series Vikings. Its strong pine and
green scent bring to life any out in the wilds tv show or film.
Tutti Frutti
had a rare burn the weekend before we went away. Just like a delicious bag of
sweets, it really brings to mind all the fun of the fair and holiday treats.
Fluffy
Towels was my Saturday morning scent. As regular readers will know I’m not a
fan of the detergenty type Yankee Candle fragrances (and luckily neither is my
wife – so no arguments there)! I can
just about tolerate Fluffy Towels, but it is probably my least favourite Yankee
Candle that I own. It is literally like fresh laundry in a basket or sniffing a
packet of washing powder.
Vanilla Chai
was our last candle before the holiday and I love it more and more. The creamy
richness of its multitude of spices make it a heady exotic sensation – not for
the faint hearted!
While we
were away we took our electric warmer with us and used Midnight Jasmine several
times. It takes on a different sweeter smell using the melt. Utterly delightful
and I hope the cleaner appreciated the lingering aroma in our hotel room!
Back home
and Water Garden brought a lovely freshness to the house. Its freshwater floral
notes always inspire and never disappoint.
Salted
Caramel in the hallway tried to get us in the mood (successfully) for our pre-Halloween
set up.
Into
Saturday evening and a debut treat of Exotic Bloom. It has a bit in common with
Water Garden, but has an even bolder perfume. We both agreed it had some of the
notes of True Rose in there too. A lovely, strong scented winner – pick up
Exotic Bloom while you can!
Waikiki
Melon went through one of its dry patches Sunday morning, couldn’t really smell
that much.
This was
followed by the bubbly bright Pink Dragon Fruit which went well with the warm
day.
As the
evening cooled sharply, a treat with a first ever burn of God Bless America. A
really lovely aroma of sugary sweetness and apples with just the merest hint of spice – this is a
fantastic scent for the autumn.
And finally,
our guest photo of the week comes from Team Yankee Global member Korina – thank
you for this lovely pic with one of the very best ever autumn scents!
