As each year
passes the idea of celebrating Christmas In July seems to grow and grow with
home shopping channel QVC now dedicating two days of tv coverage to the concept.
Other
retailers have jumped on board and for shoppers it is a great chance to snap up
some bargains and put them away until Christmas. Or not .. but more on that in
a minute
So
forgetting the soaring temperatures outside and locked firmly in the
Christmasland that was the QVC TV studio, Yankee Candle Brand Ambassador Rosa
Smith brought us two shows full of Christmas and other Yankee Candle goodies.
Let’s plunge
into the first show which I was only able to catch the first part of. QVC host
Julia Roberts was in fine form and looking fab in a dress which (to me anyway)
looked like it could be covered in Christmas lights! Great stuff.
Kicking
things off was two pairs of Santa shorts which came with 4 Christmas small jars
– a great gift idea. That’s if you can bear to part with Yankee Candles when
you have them! The Yankee Army had a laugh about that on Twitter and Rosa
mentioned on air.
Rosa commented
that she’d been burning many Christmas favourites to get her in the mood for
the shows including Red Berry And Cedar and even Christmas Tree in the
bathroom! She noted that many of the Christmas fragrances work at this time of
year and they can be quite refreshing in the sticky weather. So maybe you don’t
need to put them away until Christmas after all!
For the
first time on QVC the new autumn fragrances were brought to screen in a tea
light and votive collection. Rosa noted how we’ve all been burning Lake Sunset
already and that it was a quick fan favourite. Her description of evoking
thoughts of the “warmth of the sun setting under a clear blue sky” was
particularly apt.
'Cherry
delight' was a 30 piece Cherries On Snow collection and a good chance to pick up
this retired fragrance. Rosa noted this was another scent good for this time of
year as of course cherry is a summer fruit and the snow element brought an icy
freshness into the room when she used it. ‘I felt like a southern belle’ she
proudly proclaimed. Love it!

Some shout
outs for the Yankee Army that I missed including Rosa’s colleague Steven
Corfield and even some obscure yankee blogger got a mention!
On to the
evening show with Jilly Halliday presenting alongside Rosa and a busy late
night of shopping.
A one time
only offer of a Vanilla Cupcake large jar with 14 samplers was a great deal
before flying back to Christmas with a Sparkling Snow large jar complete with a
Snowman snuffer. Rosa noted that Sparkling Snow really takes you off into
fantasy land with its powdery fresh feel making you think you are in Narnia!
The Lion, The Witch ….and The Wardrobe full of Yankee Candles no doubt!
2 different
options of 72 Christmas tea lights sold out and a delicate set of stemmed Holly
decorated votive holders (with candles) was introduced and is a lovely product.
Another
highlight was the Christmas Flower Hurricane Vase complete with a large jar of
Red Berry And Cedar. Rosa noted that Red Berry And Cedar can be tough to get
hold of and it is simply ‘Christmas in a candle’. She mentioned it has the
sharpness of redcurrants but the woodsiness of cedar and pine giving a real traditional
Christmas feel.
Lots more
shout outs for twitter users including Ann from the Yankee Army who was melting
Christmas Tree while watching – and why not!
So, another
Yankee on TV day was all over too quickly but we’ve a few more days to have fun
with Christmas In July. Next Yankee Candle TV shows on QVC are on the 11th
and 14th August.
* note - all product items with images shown are still available from QVC at time of going to press.
