ONE LAST CHRISTMAS IN JULY POST….

As July draws to a close, we can look forward to our last bash of summer hopefully in August before ‘blissful autumn’ sets in.

The QVC Christmas in July couple of days was fun last week and I see from Twitter loads of the Yankee Army have stocked up on Christmas fragrances and accessories.

Quite a few other Yankee Candle retailers have got on board with the Christmas in July idea and have run their own special promotions and features.

So just before we put Christmas things to one side for a few months, wipe the perspiration from your brow for one last Christmas in July bit of fun courtesy of Andy’s Yankees!

As my collection has grown at home we ran out of space in our main Yankee cupboard (I’m sure you know the feeling!) so I gave up my precious 1930s bookcase as an extra storage area. We decided to use it for out of season candles so at the moment it is my very own 'Christmas In July' cupboard (including a touch of Halloween and autumn too)!

My Christmas Yankee cupboard..

It’s incredible for me to take a step back sometimes as last Christmas was when it all started for me and Yankee Candles. It was with an Encore candle called Christmas Fir that we picked up in a charity shop in Brighton for £2! It has been a long journey over the past few months and I wonder what I used to fill my time with before I discovered Yankees.

Our first two proper Yankee Candle purchases were Cherries On Snow and Sugared Apple (I think) in a post Christmas sale at our local garden centre. I really thought I was pushing the boat out by splashing out £20 on two candles!! The rest is history.

Although my Christmas Fir is getting low after burning all last Christmas, Christmas Tree is fairly similar so I am glad to have a medium jar of that and also White Christmas has similar fir/pine notes.

I love the full on nature of Apple And Pine Needle and Sugared Apple and we were burning these through January and February.

Lots of the others in the cabinet have been picked up since then so have to wait until late autumn before I’ll allow myself to try and enjoy Sparkling Snow, Happy Christmas and others. I may make an exception for Snow In Love which has brighter perfumy notes.

One thing is for sure – opening the doors of my Christmas Yankee Candle cupboard certainly brings a whole cacophony of seasonal fragrance into the room and I look forward to the new 2013 Christmas range which all looks delightful (see last week’s article here – also includes a list of other Festive fragrances that are returning in 2013).
