Welcome to
part two of this week’s specially extended burn review – which actually covers
two weeks. Did I really go on holiday in the middle? It seems like a distant
dream already!
Anyway back
to the wonderful world of Yankee Candles -
Back from
our hols and to the start of this current heat wave. It was Friday night, so
MANGO PEACH SALSA fitted the bill nicely. A first burn for this one and it
throws a lot stronger than you might think from the jar scent. A delicious,
creamy blend of fruits with the peach very dominant. MANGO PEACH SALSA is
not a million miles away from WAIKIKI MELON, except of course for its peachiness.
EARLY
SUNRISE greeted us for the next two mornings as we spruced up the house after
the holiday. Its fresh, clean, citrusy smell is the perfect uplift for any
day. It makes you feel bright and fresh as the aroma hits. Much more up my alley
than the current popular fresh clean scents (CLEAN COTTON etc), it's a shame
it is no longer around. However I’ll be talking about it for a while as this
was a votive and I have a few of these and melts, plus I was lucky enough to
get hold of a large jar recently.
BEACH BLUE
accompanied the heat on Saturday afternoon – and wow, does this really go with
a really hot day! The heat seems to bring BEACH BLUE into its own and it’s
like walking along a breezeless baking hot seafront with the sea smell wafting
across you. BEACH BLUE is part of the Beachside collection mentioned in PART ONE.
Now I know
LAKE SUNSET is part of the just released Q3 Yankee Candle collection which
means it is really for autumn, but this fragrance in my opinion is much more suited to
hot summer or late summer nights. Very reminiscent of PINK SANDS though perhaps
not quite as sweet, LAKE SUNSET is a delicious fragrance that will remind you
of the warm day just passed.
Tried out a
PINK LADY SLIPPER melt over a couple of days deciding if we wanted a large jar
or not as it is retiring in 2013. And the answer was a definite ‘yes’! PINK
LADY SLIPPER is a stunner, completely unique in the floral range of Yankee
Candles. It is quite feminine and light in touch but the scent is strong.
And finally closing
off the week is the lovely SANDALWOOD VANILLA. Always a treat to burn this
candle as it feels luxurious and full of mystery. Definitely one for the
evenings!
