Started off
with a couple of uses of Dune Grass in melt
form. I have managed to get hold of a large jar of Dune Grass so the melt was a
taster hopefully of what I can expect. It has that grassy familiarity that you
get with Garden Hideaway and Loves Me Loves Me Not, but with a hint of lemony
zest which definitely takes you off to sand dunes at the beach.
I watched a
couple of movies this week in my home cinema room with First Down for
accompaniment. First Down creates the ambience of a plush leather filled
drawing room or luxury cinema so it works well with any film. Here you can see
it in action with Batman!
Again, as a
forerunner to using a large jar I tried a Wild Passion Fruit sampler.
Unfortunately it was a bit of a disappointment with hardly any smell despite a
lengthy burn. What I did get (almost burning my nose in the process trying to
determine some scent!) was almost a confectionery, boiled sweet kind of aroma which surprised me. Not
unpleasant but unexpected and it will be interesting to see if the sampler
comes to life on further use before moving onto my large jar. Wild Passion
Fruit retired earlier this year so get hold of it while you can.
Beach
Flowers is always a favourite and it whisks you away to a garden by the sea.
Lovely for any weather.
It was a first burn on Friday night for Salted Caramel. This was my son’s choice as we were having a celebratory evening following his excellent A-Level results. As soon as you open the jar Salted Caramel jumps out at you and unusually within a few minutes of burning your whole room is full of lush scent. I can see this being a real favourite as we go into the autumn and Halloween. It reminds me of night-time at a carnival or at a fireworks display. Toffee apples, candy floss and yet very warming at the same time. It’s slightly sweet but spicy, dark and mysterious. Absolutely love it and it’s very strong – not for the faint hearted!!
Camomile Tea was the weekend morning pick me up candle. It’s a great excuse to sit around and have a lazy morning with this candle. Its sweet sugary notes are perfectly blended with a tea like creaminess to start the day.
Ex-tea-minate!
Sandalwood Vanilla was the Saturday night choice and as usual this European exclusive delivered a wonderful ambience. This time around the vanilla notes seemed stronger but Sandalwood gives it that exotic spice underneath and it is one of those fragrances that brings luxury into your living space. Recently retired – get hold of Sandalwood Vanilla while you can!
On Sunday evening we were talking about fun exotic holidays from our past and we wanted to bring them back to life. We remembered encountering a bar once that had hugely exotic Hawaiian type cocktails towering with fruit and lit with sparklers. Only one Yankee Candle could help that memory come vividly back to life – Waikiki Melon! It’s lush, fruity, creamy and guaranteed to assist you with dreaming of faraway places. Often overlooked from the 2013 Q1 release due to the popularity of Black Coconut – for me at least, Waikiki Melon comes a close second in terms of its sumptuousness and scent.
