MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY - LILAC BLOSSOMS, GARDEN HIDEAWAY, CHERRY BLOSSOM and more! (w/e 13th April)

Warm Spice unseasonably kicked things off this week. However it was selected to go along with horror movie The Conjuring. Its spicy, nutty almost toffee-ish notes went well with this retro horror  film.

Vanilla Lime was next and is always a winner with its unique sharp lime tinge, softened just a tad by the creamy vanilla – perfect for any occasion!

For the first time this year I felt it was appropriate to burn Garden Hideaway. A year ago it would have been hard to believe that Garden Hideaway would become a more difficult scent to find as it was everywhere. So for all the non believers, when Yankee Candle do retire a fragrance it does disappear eventually! Anyway, Garden Hideaway’s mixture of floral and grassy notes is always a winner and it’s a perfect conservatory fragrance.

..And yes, that’s my garden above – the venue for the Yankee Candle fans garden party this summer on Saturday 28th June. Why not come along – details are posted HERE. Just drop me a line if you’d like to attend and you can meet and chat to  lots of folk from the Yankee army – plus special guest Yankee Candle Brand Ambassador Steven Corfield will be there too!

Champaca Blossom is becoming more of a favourite in our household. This new release for 2014 is a unique Yankee fragrance and that’s what I love so much about it. Only very slightly sweet but with a heady true floral bouquet- for me at least Champaca Blossom is the highlight of the 2014 releases so far.

Up reasonably early on Saturday so the wonderful Early Sunrise started the day. It’s softish lemony notes makes it the perfect wake you up fragrance.

A real treat on Saturday evening as we finally caved in and used Cherry Blossom. This long retired fragrance is a beautiful, sweet nectar – perfect for the spring. It has a slight powdery tang to its sweetness and is really lovely.

A quick freshen up with a melt of Sweet Strawberry on Sunday morning, before a long burn for Lilac Blossoms in the afternoon. You may just be able to make out the Lilac Blossoms forming on our large bush in the background of the picture below. I love Lilac Blossoms – a really strong  floral classic and so true to life.

Finally to close off the week I fancied something creamy yet with a splash of fruit. Strawberry Buttercream fits perfectly and though it is a fairly straightforward scent – it’s creamy strawberry flavor is absolutely delicious.
