MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY : SPARKLING LEMON, COASTAL WATERS, FIRESIDE TREATS + more (Easter 2014)

Well the warm weather finally broke last week in England, with the rain arriving with a vengeance just in time for Easter day!

We’re getting very silly with back up candles in our household. Our fairly new Yankee Candle display cabinet is to blame. Here’s a photo from when we first arranged it a couple of months ago, the candles have been shuffled a couple of times since then!

Anyway, we’ve realised that we’ve fallen for the Yankee Candle sickness of keeping a pristine candle of each scent and only burning where we have duplicates. I may be not religiously following this rule,  but it’s certainly easier to use a candle when you’ve got an untouched one as well!

So we started the week with Turquoise Sky, having just ordered an additional jar. A lovely strong scent, it is an exotic perfumey watery scent, but one for warmer weather rather than cold.

A Sweet Honeysuckle votive didn’t really set the world on fire. It reminded me a touch of the new Champaca Blossom fragrance.

Into my Easter break and we started with Sparkling Lemon. Another back up ordered so for the first time in nearly a year, Sparkling Lemon was able to bring its fizzy party atmosphere to town!

Started Good Friday with Sweet Pink, which is a pleasant candle in the Dream Garden range. It is a bit like a slightly less fruity Pink Sands, so one for all fans pink!

Beach Wood followed accompanying Star Trek – The Original Motion Picture! I find this fragrance goes really well with sci-fi movies. It almost has a slightly sweet oily smell that you’d imagine around a working spaceship!

Beach Wood ... on board the Enterprise!

Vanilla Cupcake took us late into the evening. This rich, cakey, vanilla fragrance I’ve enjoyed more each time I use it.

Into Saturday and we were out for most of the day and night, so this is where small jars come into their own. Lemon Lavender freshened the house in the morning, while White Gardenia with its stunning floral scent closed the evening.

On Easter Sunday atmosphere won over the Easter treats! Bunny Cake will be kept for another year (ok, we don’t have a back up!) and as the heavens opened with thunder and lightning too, Coastal Waters really added to the ambience. It’s stunning, strong salty water scent is perfect for enhancing a rainy day.

Mountain Lodge followed. Beautiful scent, slightly similar to First Down from the man candles range. One of my very favourites.

And finally to close Easter Sunday, we had to have something a little sweet. So the lovely gooey marshmallow of Fireside Treats suited. It’s sweetness is offset beautifully by a touch of woodsy smoke. A calorie free treat indeed!
