It looks
like we’re in for a hot and stormy summer in the UK, whether we like it or not!
I started
the week off this week with a couple of Juicy Watermelon votives, to use them
up as they are getting quite old. Votives and tarts do lose their scent after a
few years, so don’t leave them sitting around for too long! The first burn was
disappointing but on subsequent use some of the sweet melon flavour came
through. Nothing spectacular, but could just be due to their age.
Into burn
time proper and the absolutely divine Turquoise Sky. It’s the most exotic of
the blue, watery candles and its shower fresh feel is laced with a taste of the
tropical. If this doesn’t whisk you off to balmy blue waters in your mind,
nothing will!
Midnight
Jasmine followed with its sultry notes and it went along perfectly with the
hedonistic atmosphere of Sid and Nancy.
On to Friday
evening and another go with Plumeria. This fragrance is the most like a lady’s
perfume I’ve come across in the whole Yankee scent range. It must be because
Plumeria is full of tubereuse. It’s lovely, but it doesn’t have the strongest
throw in the world.
Saturday
morning and a melt of Dune Grass to start the day. Its bright twist makes it my
favourite of the grassy type of Yankee.
Sun and Sand
followed in the afternoon and its blend of sun cream and hot sand (well that’s
what it smells like!) makes it the all time best beach type fragrance in my
opinion. A little light smelling on first use in the tumbler though.
Midsummer’s
Night is a favourite for any warm summer night. It’s bold, yet cooling dark
notes whisk you off to any exotic location that your thoughts care to take you
too.
Vanilla Lime
is a lovely, gentle wake you up fragrance for a Sunday thanks to vanilla taking
the edge off the citrus.
Garden Time
did its best to battle through the
sweltering heat of Sunday afternoon. It’s delicate herby notes are lovely.
And finally
a special treat to close the week with one of the brand new scents for autumn
2014 (in stores from July). Berrylicious is a real winner. Fans of Blueberry Scone and Muffin will
love Berrylicious and it is so strong. It filled the whole downstairs of my
house in minutes with its delicious blend of blueberries, grape and a delicious
soft baked cake aroma. This one is a real winner and perfect for any time of
year.
