MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY – FRESH CUT ROSES, WILD PASSION FRUIT, FIRESIDE TREATS & more! (w/e 15th June)

Hot sunny weather, torrential downpours and the World Cup. Yes, it’s summer 2014 and as we rattle towards the longest day, I’m leaning more towards the full on summer yankee candle fragrances  rather than springlike ones.

Started the week with a lovely melt of the glorious Island Guava. Enjoying this creamy cocktail of guava and other fruit more and more with each use. Perfect for a summer’s evening.

A melt of Mountain Lodge on Tuesday in my electric warmer (ok, it’s a chopped up votive and part of a rescued jar) but it worked well as BBC Springwatch was nearing its end. As Chris and the team broadcast from their wooden lodge, I felt like I was there too. Mountain Lodge’s plush, luxurious notes give the atmosphere of a 5 star woodland retreat.

In to Wednesday and Fireside Treats along with ‘Lost’. And how apropos – they were burning marshmallows over a camp fire on the beach in this episode! Fireside Treats is a delicious, smoky, gooey marshmallow fragrance.

Thursday saw the start of the world cup and having given up on football completely a few years ago, I decided to jump back in with both feet for some Brazilian atmosphere. Pineapple Cilantro’s spicy fruit notes helped bring the carnival to life in my living room!

Black Coconut did a similar trick on Friday night. It’s richly perfumed twist on coconut always ensures you have that exotic feeling around you!

A melt of Sweet Honeysuckle filled the house on Saturday morning. A very sweet floral in kind of a candy type way. Easy to see why this was a fan favourite.

Wild Passion Fruit was our tropical treat for Saturday night. Its rich fruity notes are offset with a peppery twist.

Sunday morning and a lovely slow burn of Camomile Tea to kick off the day. The lovely strong release of honeyed tea make this a perfect weekend choice.

And to wrap things up with the garden now in full bloom I chose Fresh Cut Roses. The perennial Yankee classic, Fresh Cut Roses has that delicate, yet strong scent of young roses just coming into bloom. Absolutely lovely.
