MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY – FRUIT FUSION, FIRESIDE TREATS, UNDER THE PALMS, TURQUOISE SKY and more (w/e 20th July)

Hot, hot, hot, rain, thunder, hot, hot ,hot! Summer in the UK this year certainly in the south has settled into a pattern of very high temperatures and lots of storms. I love storms but sadly for us this weekend, most passed us by though we did get a bit of rain.

In anticipation perhaps, I started the week with a lovely burn of Turquoise Sky. Its sharp perfume notes and watery blue wax colour help transport you off to the clear blue waters of a calm sea. Very relaxing and a great one for your bathroom or a warm rainy day.

We gave Let Freedom Ring another go after its poor first performance. It is very, very light – one of the lightest Yankee fragrances I’ve come across – but – it does work in the right environment. Left in a  cool, shaded room before we watched a movie, its lovely light woodsy, creamy notes did come through.

Fireside Treats is delightful on a warm summer night. Its marshmallow sweetness is offset by a light smoky tone.

A Meadow Showers melt kicked off a cloudy Saturday morning and this scent takes me back to our Yankee Candle Garden Party from a few weeks ago. I had it on all day and this scent will forever remind me of that special day

Garden Hideaway followed and it is the scent of summer. Always a favourite. It was great to burn while I spent the afternoon on the PC launching the new Team Yankee Global Facebook group.

Saturday evening saw the first burn of Honey Glow from the new Yankee Candle Indian Summer range. It is perfect for a warm night. At first its honey note was prevalent but as the burn went on a lovely perfumed undertone came through. This new fragrance is a real winner – very pleasant indeed.

Into Sunday and the delightful almost fizzy orange of Fruit Fusion. It is one of the very best citrusy Yankee Candle fragrances. (Here it is with our Christmas Yankee cupboard in the background).

This was followed by a melt of  Juicy Watermelon (from an underperforming votive!). It has a nice, clean pure melon scent.

And finally to wrap up the week, the decidedly tropical and very unusual Under The Palms. There isn’t really another Yankee scent like this although it does have an unripe coconut feel. This is blended with a creamy bitter sweetness, so it gives an unusual but believable scent as to what it could be like lying Under The Palms.

Guest Photo – We’ve a new Facebook Group called the Team Yankee – Global Fan Appreciation Group and each week I’ll be posting my favourite photo from the week as part of the diary. Here’s Rachel’s lovely full on summer burn…Thanks Rachel!
