I don’t
think many can complain about the summer in the UK this year. Something for
everyone – long hot sunny days, rainy days, epic thunderstorms – we’ve had it
all and it is still only early July. As temperatures keep climbing to fever
pitch, there is one certainty, Yankee Candles will go along with us for the ride!
Island Spa
began the week with its lovely fizzy fresh lemon notes. This one whisks you off
to a tropical lagoon or a luxury retreat in your mind. A true classic.
On to one of
the new contenders on Wednesday and Pink Hibiscus reveals a little more of
itself with each burn. It is a lovely, fruity floral and very pleasant to burn
during the summer months.
Witches Brew
hinted at darker times not too far around the corner as we enjoyed the latest
Paranormal Activity movie on Thursday evening.
And what a
way to kick off the weekend. The lovely notes of Lavender Vanilla melting in
the kitchen blending into the decadence of Midnight Oasis in the living room.
Not that I’m one for mixing up my fragrances but these two worked really well
together coming together in a sort of ‘Midnight Lavender’ in the hallway!
A sweet
sherbety start to Saturday with Sparkling Lemon, though this normally not shy
fragrance battled to make itself known with the heat on our conservatory.
For the
evening treat we had a first burn of Americana special Let Freedom Ring. It
does have lovely creamy, woodsy notes on cold smell but it was hard to detect
much while it was burning. Definitely a lighter scent, I think we need to give
this a second go in a quieter, cooler room so that it can be enjoyed to its
fullest extent.
Bahama
Breeze kicked off Sunday with its delicious, warm, fruity and tropical water
notes. This was in anticipation of some promised summer rain which sadly failed
to materialise. However, Bahama Breeze was a joy as always.
Another bit
of ‘smellscaping’ in the late afternoon as a Mountain Pine melt definitely
worked well with my new favourite show Vikings.
Then finally
to wrap things up for the weekend and going along with the World Cup final -
the floral sweet notes of Lovely Kiku.
