Hello Yankee
Candle lovers!!! It is good to be back with my yankee diary after a wee break
for the yankee party and also a holiday.
Winding the
clock back over a week and lots of summery (and wet) weather in the south of
England. We enjoyed melting Sweet Strawberry, burning the deliciously tangy
Sicilian Lemon and also the classically rich Vanilla Cupcake.
Saturday was
my Yankee party and being burned/melted that day were Garden Hideaway, Sweet
Pink, Ocean Blossom and Meadow Showers. Also as you probably know by now that
day was probably the least summery of the past month. But never mind, the sun
shone indoors!
The night
before our holiday Midnight Jasmine saw us on our travels. It really is a
perfect fragrance for those long summer nights.
....And before
you know it we were back. Returning to 22c temperatures after a few days of 16c
in Scotland (ah it’s good for you!), it was also US Independence Day, so we
celebrated with one of the newly delivered Americana candles.
Stars & Stripes
is reportedly a rebranded version of Home Sweet Home. It is a lovely sweet
cinnamon scent and the wax colour is very dark and beautiful. A real welcome
home fragrance and celebrating 4th July too!
Saturday
morning and my wife had put on Strawberry Buttercream which I had never
considered as a morning fragrance before. However it worked well with the
creamy strawberry flavour bringing to mind a sweet treat of a breakfast!
I followed
this with another melt of Meadow Showers. This fragrance is really lovely. It
has the feel of dew dampened flowers and grass and it whisks you off to the
outdoors whenever you smell it.

The evening
saw the warming sweet banana of Paradise Spice. It does for bananas what
Pineapple Cilantro does for Pineapples!
Into Sunday
and relaxing on the conservatory with the sweet herby notes of Garden Time is a
lovely way to wile away a few hours.
I followed
this with a splash of melting the deliciously candy like Sweet Honeysuckle.
This one really is deliciously sugary floral nectar!
And finally
to wrap up a busy couple of weeks (why do holidays always seem more tiring than
working!) the lovely soft fruit notes of Waikiki Melon. It’s a strong yet
gentle scent that slowly releases its aroma around your living space.
