Well, the
forecasters said all change and it looked like this time it was going to
happen. Over the weekend windy and stormy weather blew into England, so we made
a special effort to enjoy our summer Yankee Candles for perhaps the last time
during the week.
We started
the week with the delicious, rich, creamy strawberry of Strawberry Buttercream.
Such a simple fragrance, yet also such a sumptuous, almost finger licking
delight!
Sun and Sand
was next and always such a pleasure to use. Wherever you are this will whisk
you straight off to the beach. How on earth Yankee Candle managed to capture
the sandy aroma in this fragrance never ceases to amaze me.
Continuing
our run through of the ‘Beachside’ collection with Beach Sun was a special
treat. The loveliest, creamiest vanilla mixed with the sweet fragrance that you’d
expect to find in sun lotion make Beach Sun an escapist paradise!
A debut
fragrance for me with Drift Away in a melt on Friday to go with the first rain
for some time. It’s a lovely watery blue fragrance with a hint of the’ washing
line’ type cleanliness aroma about it.
Water Garden
was next and I’m always delighted by its
powdery freshwater fragrance. I always say it reminds me of a private lake or
large pond at a stately home with its tangy, floral, watery notes. A bit sad
though as we woke up the next morning to find oil separation at the bottom of
the jar which spoils its look for future burns L
Into Saturday
and a burst of bright floral with Lovely Kiku to start the day.
This was
followed into the afternoon and evening by our last dip into the ‘Beachside’
range with Beach Garden. Such a lovely tangy berry scent. Unusually for Yankee
it’s not the blue berry that is more common with their fragrances, but very
much a red berry scent. Unusual and a great refreshing smell for the summer.
The heavens
opened Sunday morning, so Coastal Waters was very apt. Its stunning
seaspray-like fragrance went well with the thrashing rain.
The
afternoon brightened so it was probably a farewell burn for Fresh Cut Roses for
the summer. Our roses are just coming in to their second full bloom and it is
such a deserved classic fragrance with its young, bright rose medley scent.
A couple of
melts also helped the day along. The rich, deep ‘piney’ Mountain Pine
accompanied my next episode of Vikings and late afternoon we had a treat of
Bahama Breeze with its tart tropical fruit aroma.
To finish
off the week we used Salted Caramel. It was a cooler night and Salted Caramel
really gives a warming salty sweet taste of the autumn season to come. So, so
strong – this must be the boldest scent in the current Yankee Candle range
(yes, in my opinion it’s even stronger than Midsummer’s Night!)

is a beautiful photograph of Daffodil that she burned last week.
