Proper
autumnal weather last week. Probably my favourite season of the year, so to
celebrate I wanted to use some stunning Yankee Candles.
Obviously I
use woderful Yankee Candles every week, but just like autumn is my favourite
season, I think the Yankee Candle scents that naturally go along with this
season are my favourite too!
A melt of
Creamy Caramel started the week. Creramy Caramel is like the older sister of
Salted Caramel. If anything it is even richer and stronger! I could only take
about an hour of this one, it was so overpowering.
Quite the
opposite on Tuesday as Honey Glow was disappointing. After using it a couple of
times previously I was looking forward to its perfumed, honeyed notes. Maybe
I’ve just hit a dry patch but there was hardly any aroma this time around.
I didn’t
sleep well the night before, so after a long day’s commuting, I needed a pick
me up on Wednesday. What better to give you a homely and uplifting feel than
Red Velvet. This scent is like a smoother, creamier version of Vanilla Cupcake
– always lovely.
Nature’s
Paintbrush is such a lovely scent, particularly for this time of year as the
leaves are going red, gold and brown on the trees. It reminds me of walking
through all of these colours in a woodland and the lovely fresh air blowing
around you. To me Nature’s Paintbrush smells like that enhanced version of an
autumn day.
Candy Corn
kicked the weekend off in style, along with the excellent fifties sci-fi/horror
classic Quatermass 2. Candy Corn’s sweet, buttery smell goes well with any
spooky movie.
First real
big gun of the weekend was Grapevine & Oak. I’ve had this for a while and
decided to burn it for the first time as Yankee Candle have just brought it
back as a treasure (special appearance) in Europe – so it isn’t quite as rare
as it was!). Such a beautiful strong scent – it’s like being in a beautiful
winery. Definitely a white wine flavour though with leafy undertones.
Saturday and
Sunday both kicked off with a melt of Macintosh. Its clean apple flavour is a
nice wake you up scent for October.
Saturday
afternoon was grey and wet, so I dug out one of my all time favourites Mountain
Lodge. Deliciously, luxurious and creamy with an undercurrent of polished
leather furniture – I love it so much!
Saturday
night saw another treat with a first burn of Cozy Sweater. Had a bit of trouble
getting it to pool even after 5 hours (I think this new Yankee Candle illuma
lid is more decorative than practical!), but the aroma is wonderful. For those
familiar with Snow In Love, Cozy Sweater is in the same vein. It is a rich,
deep perfume and imagine walking into an upmarket gentleman’s retailer with Barbour
coats, hats and country ware available. That is what Cozy Sweater brings to
mind, it is incredible!
After the
Macintosh again on Sunday, I picked out Treehouse Memories with its delicious,
earthy, churchy smell. Quite a lovely blend this one and a little different.
And for Sunday
evening, as harvest festivals take place all over the country, I thought I’d
try another one of Yankee Candle Europe’s new special appearances – Harvest.
Such a lot going on in this candle! It started very much like Home Sweet Home,
but as the burn continued you could pick out the clove aroma and well into the
burn it softened and the mysterious ‘golden spices’ shone through. Harvest is a
seasonal basket of wonders!
Last but not
least, this week’s featured photo from one of the wonderful people on our Team Yankee Global Facebook group. Here’s a smashing photo from Rob as he was just
about to melt Silver Birch. Thanks Rob!
