MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY – SAGE & CITRUS, TROPICAL FRUIT, HOME SWEET HOME, NOVEMBER RAIN and more (w.e. 5th Oct)

This was the last week of our indian summer weather in the southern half of the UK and autumn arrived with a day of rain and colder nights at the weekend.

Our week started with Tropical Fruit. Although this one looks very tropical and summery to me it is quite autumnal in its feel. The fruit mixture is pleasant and sweet, yet the sense is that the fruit is ripe and ready for harvesting. This time around Tropical Fruit reminded me of a fruitier version of Tutti Frutti.

Home Sweet Home followed and this one never fails to delight the senses. Its rich, strong cinnamon aroma is the perfect smell to cosy up with at home.

Wild Passion Fruit was next for that last taster of warm weather. It is another that is more than just a fruity scent. Quite a lot going on in this delicious candle including some lovely peppery notes.

Up with the birds on Friday and Early Sunrise kicked things off with its beautiful, lemony fresh, wake you up aroma.

Lemon Lavender was a lovely natural follow on and it keeps your surroundings feeling just spruced.

Sage & Citrus was our treat for the evening. This unique aroma is one of Yankee Candle’s finest. It is quite cologny, but obviously has the herby and citrus blend too. Quite a masculine scent and not too overpowering – Sage & Citrus is simply delightful.

The heavens opened Saturday morning and I was thrilled to give November Rain a burn. This beautiful scent is like a turbo charged version of River Valley. It really captures an enhanced aroma and feel of being out in a strong, fresh rain shower.

Witches Brew took us through the evening with its beautiful, decadent, incense like scent.

I melted Farmer’s Market a couple of times and its lovely cinnamon and fruit mix makes it another to give you that harvest festival feel.

Into Sunday and it was bright and cheerful so a long burn of Sparkling Lemon to kick things off. Its fizzy, lemonade like notes are always delicious.

Then to join in with the ever popular first Sunday of the month burn hosted by Ann at Team Yankee – I burned Blissful Autumn. Ann’s theme this month was any blue candle. Blissful Autumn was a popular choice among the 18 different scents Ann counted.  The lovely creamy fruit aroma of Blissful Autumn really does capture the flavour and feel of autumn.

And on to our Team Yankee Global photo of the week. This one comes from Sarah and it is of her naughty sofa! Basically Angel’s Wings didn’t give off much scent on her use of it, so Sarah tried a tip that is becoming popular with Yankee Candle lovers. Turn your jar upside down for a few hours before lighting – this ‘could’ allow some of the fragrance oil to get closer to the surface. Sarah noted a slight improvement on her next burn of the candle.

Why not come and join our friendly Facebook group Team Yankee Global and see what candle is next for the naughty sofa!!? We’ve just passed a huge milestone as we now have over 1,000 members from (at least) 18 different countries. Really pleased that our original Yankee fan group has established itself on Facebook in such a positive way. Come and join us – Ann, Ben, myself  and the other 1,000 Yankee Candle lovers would love to see you on there, wherever you are from in the world!
