It’s getting
to that time of year again, isn’t it? For me and quite a few others the winter
and especially Christmas season is when Yankee Candle comes into its own. No
matter how much I’m tempted, I’m holding off on the Christmas scents until
December. So with my sense of smell well and truly returned it was time to
enjoy a taste of the autumn last week…
I had a
couple of days working from home which meant I could have an extra burn of a
couple of scents. I don’t mind fruity or floral scents during the daytime in
the autumn. They bring a bit of cheer and you only need a touch of sunshine to
lift the mood!
The lovely
Wild Passion Fruit kicked things off. So pleasant, fruity without being citrusy
and with delicious peppery notes.
God Bless
America was next for the evening and I love its sugary apple scent. Imagine the
sweet apples in an apple crumble – that’s where this candle takes me too! And
what goes better with God Bless America than Cops on TV. Go get them ‘bad boys’!
Next morning
a lovely burst of Water Garden went along with the day. I’d use this scent any
time of the year. It always reminds me of that floral smell you get by a lake
or large pond.
Snuggling up
for the evening with Cozy Sweater is a treat. A lovely rich sweet aftershave
style fragrance, it is a favourite in our house.
Silver Birch
was next for the first time. It’s a nice, if unexceptional fragrance. A touch
of pine, a touch of aftershave, quite retro and I can imagine this would be a
nice autumn daytime fragrance with the wind blowing around outside.
The utterly
delightful Wild Fig is so comforting – a real star from this year’s new autumn
scents. Deliciously warming and with true fig notes it’s a delight.
Into the
weekend with a melt of Vanilla Lime from the end of a medium jar. This
refreshing scent always brings a burst of energy to the area it is used in.
Saturday
evening was a special treat with a first ever burn of Brown Paper Packages from
the much missed ‘My Favorite Things’ range. Very pleasant, Brown Paper Packages
has the aroma of a slightly spiced baby powder. You can get that similar smell
sometimes from brand new brown paper – a
very clever scent indeed.
Two melts
went through the day on Sunday. Farmer’s Market to start, followed by the
lovely outdoorsy Mountain Lodge.
Another
cosying evening fragrance, this time with Buttercream. Sheer indulgence
(without the calories), Buttercream is full on vanillaness – with a huge dollop
of cream on top! A perfect accompaniment for the final instalments of The
Pickwick Papers too.
Lastly here’s
our lovely guest photo from Nancy at our Team Yankee group – this one definitely
got me feeling festive!
