Argh,
cough, splutter, sneeze….yes it is that time of year! Apologies for being quiet
for a while but I have had a rather nasty bout of flu. I’m on the way to
recovery though so though it was time I dropped a line in on what’s been going
on in my life Yankee Candle wise in between the sniffles.
Winding the
clock way back to the last week of October and I can just about remember the
burn of Blissful Autumn. Always love this scent, so creamy and fruity with just
a hint of spice. It really does suit its name.
In the
build up to Halloween, Candy Corn, one of the Yankee staples had to feature again.
Forever will remind me of October.
It all
started so well for me on Halloween day with a morning burn of Let Freedom
Ring. Known to be one of the lightest Yankee Candle scents, this time around we
got quite a good aroma from it. It really is the most beautiful of perfumey
sweet scents – if you can find the scent that is!
The almost
damp, earthy tones of Treehouse Memories also suit the time of year.
Into the
late afternoon and what could go better with a classic monster movie than
Witches Brew? The ultimate Halloween scent!
Last one of
the day was the sweet aniseed aroma of Happy Halloween. Never my favourite
scent but it does bring to mind being given bags of this type of sweets on
Halloween night.
That was it
for me for a good few days – no yankees and lots of cold and flu remedies!
Tried to
get back into the swing of things with a Farmer’s Market melt and I did pick up
its lovely mixed fruit and golden spice notes.
Black
Cherry I could barely smell (no fault of the candle!) but did just get a tiny
bit of its sweet deliciousness.
Fireside
for Bonfire Night and again I could hardly pick it up. My wife tells me it was
beautifully strong and it actually smelled like a perfumed bonfire! I can’t
wait to try this again soon.
I left it
another couple of days and… hoorah (!) a slight return for my sense of smell on
Sunday night. To treat myself a first burn for the new limited edition (in the UK ) release of
Cranberry Pear. Much sweeter than I’d imagined, it is full on delicious
cranberry with just a touch of the fruity pear scent underneath. Quite warming
and cosy for a cold November night.
So I think
I’m back now and gradually back to my blog as my senses return. But uhoh, my
wife now has a bad throat and a dose of the shivers….
And finally
here is one of my favourite recent photos from our lovely Team Yankee Global Facebook fan group. A beautifully lit photograph of Midsummer’s Night from Katherine.
