For me this
is the best time of year for Yankee Candle and the brand really comes into its
own over the Christmas season. So many wonderful scents, so much to enjoy, let’s
go….
1st
December and the first tea light from my special advent calendar was Christmas
Tree. So surprised by this as one tea light filled the entire downstairs of my
house! Christmas Tree is a beautiful scent just like the real thing but with
the pine notes softened slightly, so it isn’t harsh on the senses.
At the same
time and for our Christmas lights switch on I burned a small jar of Christmas
Eve. This lovely fruity, sugary sweet fragrance epitomises Christmas.
Into Tuesday
and I’m more willing to experiment with other Yankee variations at Christmas
time. So a Kitchen Spice tea light brings to mind Christmas baking (it always reminds
me of mince pies) and a lovely soft biscuity Snowflake Cookie votive candle
goes along with it.
Mandarin
Cranberry followed and in my opinion it is by far the best cranberry scent
Yankee Candle do. The citrus sharpness and bittersweet mandarin is the
predominant note, underscored by the sweetness of cranberry. It is a heady
wintery blend indeed and very fitting for any cold night.
Spiced
Orange was next as I now have a back up jar. A delicious scent similar in
structure to Mandarin Cranberry if completely different in smell. Spiced Orange
is also bittersweet like the kind of orange peel you get in thick cut marmalade
blended with clove. Absolutely gorgeous!
Red Berry
And Cedar is everything Christmas in a jar. The cedar notes blend with the
berry so well and there’s a slight touch of sweetness too. It is like walking
into the ultimate Christmas cottage with a roaring fire going, fresh trees and
wreaths hung everywhere and a beautiful festive feast laid out on an old wooden
table. Fantasy-tastic!
And so
almost onto my Christmas Burn Planner (you’ve seen the videos, right? LINK HERE TO PART 3). But off plan to start the day as Saturday 6th was a
deliciously cold and frosty start. We started with Winter Garden without
expecting much from it as a number of reviewers and fans have said it is very
light. Well blow me down – we both found Winter Garden lovely and strong. It
has a beautiful soft pine aroma topped with a creamy icy touch. In your
imagination it is like stepping out on a wintery day and smelling those
evergreens that have a pungency through the winter. Just delightful.
Onto the
planner and Christmas Cupcake was next. Lovely baking notes cheered the house
up through the afternoon. Virtually identical to Vanilla Cupcake (perhaps with
a touch of seasonal icing?), it is a lovely scent.
Sugared Apple
for the evening and it is Christmas to us and really enjoyed it again.
Onto Sunday
with a sweet blast of Sparkling Cinnamon. Like a slightly sweeter version of
Home Sweet Home, you can’t beat the aroma of cinnamon at Christmas time.
The heady
Apple & Pine Needle followed. Nothing shy about this one. It has deep, rich
and very strong pine note enhanced by a sharp, tangy apple. One of my
favourites but not for the feint hearted!
Snow In Love
brought a peaceful and pleasant end to the week, with its ultra-sweet perfumey
blend. Just like a romantic walk in the snow!
And here’s a
festive treat from Team Yankee Global on Facebook with a lovely Sparkling Snow
from Sara.
