The end of
autumn and the start of the festive season (well that’s how my head works!)
It has been
a tough fight to hold off on my festive Yankee scents until December, but it
makes it that much more special to do so. Plus it makes them last longer – I
can’t bear to run out of a fragrance!
Lots of
melting of Home Sweet Home during the fortnight and its slightly sweet cinnamon
seems especially welcoming during the darker evenings.
Macintosh
Spice gives a hint at the festivities to come. Its spicy apple has a sharp note
(wonder if it is eucalyptus) which makes this scent especially invigorating and
seasonal.
White
Gardenia is one of the few florals I burn all year round. Its crisp, sharpness
makes it ideally suited to winter just as well as summer. (Oh and first
Christmas ale purchased for the photo!)
Salted
Caramel’s comforting, sugary, slightly bitter notes are always welcome in the
autumn as it fills every room with its powerful scent.
Blissful
Autumn is another scent I can’t ever get enough off. A ripened fruit blend,
softened with vanilla and just a hint of spice make this a quintessential
fragrance all through the autumn.
Camomile Tea
started Saturday 22nd and it is for me the most perfect morning
fragrance. Like sweetened, honeyed tea it gently refreshes.
I had
another go at Fireside that Saturday evening after failing miserably to detect
it when I had the flu a couple of weeks before. It doesn’t throw anywhere near
as strongly as it promises on cold smell, but its fiery, aftershave notes are
still a real delight. As close as you can get to a real fire aroma in a candle!
Angel’s
Wings was introduced for the season via a votive teaser. It has a pleasant warm
sugary aroma, but it’s not my favourite.
Sunday 23rd
was wet and it was November, so it had to be November Rain! In fact it rained
for 16 hours non stop. November Rain gives a good strong wet feeling. Its watery
notes are peppered with that fresh type of aftershave scent and it gives any
rainy day a real enhancement.
Into last
week with a lovely nutty burn of Warm Spice. Not too many Yankee Candles have
nut notes as the main ingredient, so Warm Spice is quite unique in that regard.
Vanilla
Cupcake’s sweet cakey notes are always fun, especially when watching Yankee
Candles on TV! One I’ve grown to love.
My tribute
to our friends in the USA for Thanksgiving was a burn of Stars & Stripes.
Am I the only one to find this slightly sweeter than Home Sweet Home (I’d heard
it was the same scent)?
Into Friday
and a lovely deep, sweet burn of the unique Wild Fig, another star from the new
releases this autumn.
Putting up
tons of Christmas decorations on Saturday so an early test for Peppermint
Swirls. Wow – a peppermint candy cane heaven from this strong minty sweet
candle!
Ginger Dusk
took us through the evening with its lovely lemony ginger notes.
Into Sunday
and Mountain Lodge’s luxurious aroma was perfect for the last day of November.
Then a melt of Yuletide Bayberry as we carried on with the decorations and it is
a pleasant berry/Christmas greenery aroma (without bowling me over it has to be
said). I must admit I don’t find tarts anywhere near as exciting as jars
though.
Then,
Sugared Apple which was my first ever deliberate Yankee Candle purchase. It
takes me back to the last two festive seasons every time we use it, so to me
this scent will always define the Christmas season.
And finally,
here’s our Team Yankee Global Facebook Group selected picture of the week.
Agnes’ tribute to US Thanksgiving Day was lovely!
