MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY – BLUE SATIN SASHES, FIRESIDE, KITCHEN SPICE, ICICLES and more (we 18th Jan)

So much for my brave words last week about compiling a list of scents I’d like to burn before winter is through. I couldn’t come up with much. January is such a weird month for candle burning or is it just me?

My wife has managed to smell all 8 of the new Yankee fragrances and I haven’t experienced any yet. She hated Oud Oasis – so that has put a stop to any thoughts of me picking it up from QVC! However, I’ve two of the new scents on order based on her recommendation (am I really that under the thumb?!)  so look out for a video blog soon.

Back to the diary and what’s been trying to keep me warm and cheerful this January!

Started with an Orchard Pear tart but it smelled strange. I honestly think tarts should be used within 12 months as the scent can turn funny after that point.

On to a jar proper last Tuesday – Kitchen Spice. This retired one is already being missed I am sure. It is absolutely stunning. It is a lovely blend of spices and fruits and the amazing thing is, every now and then you get a full on blast of orange peel aroma wafting across the room. So lovely.

After Monday’s disappointment we tried Orchard Pear as it should be – in a jar! This was so much better.  A lovely, sugary, rich, deep, ripened pear aroma.

Warm Spice was next and this nutty toffee-like favourite is another that hasn’t been replaced by anything similar in the UK Yankee Candle range.

The one scent I definitely did come up with as wanting to burn again this winter was Cozy Sweater. Its lovely light aftershavey notes are beautiful and comforting. I just wish this one was a little stronger.

Into Saturday morning and a treat with one of the ‘My Favourite Things’ candles Blue Satin Sashes. Such a great morning fragrance – it has that detergenty touch about it but mixed with an elegant floral bouquet.

Fireside took me through the afternoon and its sophisticated woodsy aroma is the perfect accompaniment for James Bond movies!

Apple & Pine Needle tea lights are so strong and added a little deep mystery to Saturday evening, but the jar of choice was Sugared Apple. We’ve finally some more on order so can be a little more carefree with this ultimate winter scent!

For a grey Sunday, River Valley brought some fresh cheer.

I followed this with a burn of an Icicles votive. Where have you been all my life? So much better than cold smell, this complex fragrance has much to offer. Glad I’ve got hold of a jar. My first impressions are icy, chilled berries with all sorts of other aromas blended in too.

To wrap up the week, a lovely long burn of the super sumptuous Macintosh Spice.

Last but never least a choice pick from our ever-so-friendly Team Yankee Global Facebook Group. Tara said this was her most expensive jar, so let’s give it another showing!
