The last
week of February and first week of March. Out with the old and in with the new!
March always has a little more purpose for me than February (It is Spring –
hooray and yes, I’ve seen Daffodils!) and it has been quite exciting for me to
dust off some of those Yankees that haven’t seen the light of day since last
year.
Anyway, let’s
wind back a couple of weeks. Home Sweet Home kicks off my latest diary and it’s
cozying, comforting and lovely sweet cinnamon. Perfect to warm the heart on a
chilly night!
Blissful
Autumn is still going strong. I am determined to finish this jar before the
summer comes! The scent is variable as it heads towards the bottom of the jar,
but when you do get a ‘hit’, its creamy, ripened fruit notes remain a delight
to the senses.
Kitchen
Spice has a lovely, tangy orange peel scent mixed in with cinnamon and other sweet
cooking spices.
The buds are
appearing in my garden, so a first burn of the year for Garden Time with its
lovely subtle herby notes.
Fireside, I
have to admit, has been a little disappointing. It smells so great and strong
when unlit, but on burning the aftershavey burnt notes are sooo light. If you
do manage to pick up the scent it is great, but this must be one of the very
lightest Yankee Candle scents I’ve come across. L
Lemon
Lavender is the opposite! Always gives your home that just spruced up feel.
River Valley
is one of my favourite water type Yankee fragrances. It has the feel of
stepping out into a rainshower on a spring day. Love it!
The first
Tuesday night in March was freezing (and my heart goes out to those of you in
the USA who must be sick to death of the extended snow coverage!) so
Berrylicious gave a warm blueberry fruity treat. This smells so cakey– it is
blueberry muffins and cheesecake rolled into one! I’m not normally much of a
Yankee foodie fan but this is delish.
True Rose is
a lovely uplifting scent for any time of year, but particularly early spring.
How on earth Yankee Candle have managed to capture perfectly the scent of a red
rose I’ll never know but this is one of their cleverest scents.
Midnight
Oasis is another light fragrance and it really needs a clean environment free
from any other aromas or passing traffic. Didn’t get much from it this time
around unfortunately and a shame as it
is one of my favourites.
Loves Me
Loves Me Not lights up a spring day. Daisies are beginning to pop up through
the lawn and this fragrance gives that totally floral spring feel.
Fruit Fusion
followed on Friday afternoon and its delicious sparkly orange notes go so well
with a bit of sunshine.
Used new
2015 scent Aloe Water for the first time on Saturday morning and it didn’t
disappoint. So strong this one and its lovely blend of melon and cucumber
making it perfect for mornings. Captures the ambience of Aloe as well but with
a lovely fruity twist.
Pink
Hibiscus followed and it was so lovely to get reacquainted with this sweet,
fruity floral fragrance.
We had a
triple bill of horror movies Saturday night (well it is nearly halfway to
Halloween!) and there was only one deliciously sugary fragrance to go along
with 976 Evil….Candy Corn!
Into Sunday
morning and a gentle wake up with Camomile Tea.
This was
followed by the luxurious Mountain Lodge as rain threatened (but failed to
materialise). This was exactly why I bought this new illuma lid – shipped all
the way from the USA!
And to wrap
up my fortnight, what is better than the vanilla, warm, cosseting Red Velvet.
Last but not
least, Team Yankee member Karsen had us all enthralled with her trip to Yankee
Candle Village in Deerfield over the weekend. It was a bit of a mission for her
to get there, but look at the sight on arrival. She’s kept us entertained with
some fabulous stories and photos – thanks Karsen!
