A slow start
to the week for me as the head cold was lingering, but a real taste of spring
in the air as the week continued (at least for those of us in Southern England –
apologies to those elsewhere!)
Having
bought a reserve jar of Grapevine & Oak it was time to enjoy a burn of the
original. This candle is absolutely heavenly. It has the aroma of a rich glass
of wine mixed in with woodsy oak. Dependant on your mood, you can imagine
yourself in a historic vineyard or perusing a stately home’s wine cellar. Has
to be the drinks illumalid with this one!
Mountain
Lake was next and for the first time I used it as an evening candle. Its deep,
watery aftershave notes are lovely, but in truth it is better suited to enhance
a rainy day! However it went well with the brooding atmosphere in forgotten
about 1970’s BBC drama ‘The Witch Of Pendle’.
Citrus Tango
is a lovely morning candle. It is like enjoying an exotic fruit buffet for
breakfast!
A warm
afternoon and there is little better than Sun & Sand to whisk you off in
your fantasy to a beach. Somehow Yankee Candle have captured the essence of
being on the hot sand in this fragrance. The ultimate beach candle.
Luau Party
is a real switch off treat. It has a delicious orangey and mixed fruit punch
feel, finished off with an ever so slight bitterness.
A rare
glimpse of refreshing rain on Saturday, so a first burn of Meadow Showers which
I’ve previously only had in tart form. This scent is amazing giving you such a
fresh grassy feel. Close your eyes and imagine the wet grass underfoot, while
enjoying the aroma of blossoms and trees around you.
A melt of
Dune Grass followed and worked perfectly as the clouds departed and the sun
appeared.
Under The
Palms came next. A blissful fragrance, you can smell the young palm leaves
and the growing coconuts.
Into the
evening with Sparkling Lemon. The sweet lemon fragrance is topped off with an
amazing fizz – just love this one and it’s perfect for a party or accompanying
an exotic meal.
Sunday
morning and the lovely Napa Valley Sun to bring in the day. Such a delicious,
rich, creamy aroma with just a hint of the grassy plains.
Garden
Hideaway’s mixed grassy and floral notes followed and it was lovely to enjoy
while almost watching the outdoor foliage develop around you in real time. I
love this time of year with birds busy nesting and plants and trees budding.
Garden Hideaway is a great companion to spring.
Fruit Fusion
followed with its delicious sparkly orange aroma.
So quite a
busy candle burning weekend after missing out earlier in the week. To calm
things down as the sun was setting, the lovely warming notes of Amber Moon.
Lastly, my
choice from TEAM YANKEE for last week. Karen’s new accessory and the welcoming
candle that is Home Sweet Home.
