It’s holiday Monday here
in the UK
and yes, I’m writing about Yankee Candles in the middle of my holiday! Last
blog entry for a while, but I will be back soon.
I started the week last
week with a coming home from work burn of Pink Sands. Lush, sweet melon notes
create thoughts of being on a tropical
beach. As Rosa Smith noted last night in the TSV show on QVC (I will have a
detailed look at all the shows when the blog returns), she’s beginning to think
of Pink Sands as a daytime fragrance, something I’ve never really considered
either. I think it is best to say that Pink Sands works well day or night – and
it is always a special treat.
I managed to get hold of a
large jar of Sage and Citrus recently and it will take a special occasion to
light that one, but to celebrate the new jar’s arrival I enjoyed a Sage and
Citrus melt. It’s creamy and quite perfumed, not as herbal as you’d imagine. I
look forward to exploring this retired fragrance more.
Red Velvet was a midweek
treat. It doesn’t burn quite as chocolately as it smells in the jar, with the
full on vanilla fragrance coming to the fore when burning. So unlike all of the
cheap vanilla fragranced candles I used to dislike, Red Velvet is class in a
candle!
A spooky horror film on
Thursday night and Midsummer’s Night was the perfect accompaniment. As the
months have gone by I have grown to love
Midsummer’s Night more and more. It’s dark, rich, pungent – giving a mysterious,
intoxicating blend of fragrance.
Friday night and the start
of a long break from work. So to celebrate the escapism and feeling of freedom
it was time for a first burn of Sparkling Lemon. Such a vibrant colour and a
beautiful strong smell of sweet lemons. I love the fizzy tang you get with this
candle as well. Not quite as strong upon burning as it is in the jar but still
there – and to me, Sparkling Lemon is the perfect party candle.
Beach Walk took me gently
into the weekend with its early morning stroll along the beach feel and…. then
the weather took a turn!
Great! I love the elements
and the rolling clouds and rain of Saturday afternoon gave me the perfect
opportunity to dig out Mountain Lake .
Absolutely delicious, it has that perfumed watery smell that Yankee Candle do
so well, but the highlight for me is the dark grey-blue melted wax colour. It
is literally like peering into a dark Scottish loch.
Saturday night saw another
treat and a recent purchase used for the first time. Water Garden
is a completely unique Yankee Candle. It has very light white florals mixed
with a soft watery smell. It is literally like smelling a well kept, lily
covered garden pond. It is soft and beautiful – a true Yankee original.
Into Sunday and as the roses
continue to give a late splash of colour in my garden, True Rose continues to
provide a nice accompaniment. Quite how Yankee catch the unique scent of red
roses I don’t know but this classic fragrance always brings a feeling of
relaxation and elegance when used.
And finally as we went in
to Sunday evening, Beach Wood had another go. You may remember me voicing my
recent disappointment over this large jar, particularly compared to the melt
version. We used it all night, right through until midnight and the launch of
the Yankee Candle TSV on QVC. It looks pretty, but still very little fragrance
from this candle, even when leaving and re-entering the room. Just the tiniest tinge
of woodiness, but no more so far.
Anyway, I’m offline for a
while now – will be back soon though with more content and reviews. Enjoy your
candles!
