BURN REVIEW – VANILLA CLOUDS, BEACH WOOD & MORE (with photos)

A debut last week for Sweet Strawberry in sampler form. After a few disappointing samplers lately I was pleased that Sweet Strawberry had a strong scent that could be enjoyed. It is a fairly simple fragrance much like Strawberry jam. Very pleasant and summery.

Pink Sands is a delicious treat any time of year but particularly in the summer. Its powdery yet fruity notes transport you off to faraway exotic places.

...In fact as Yankee Brand Ambassador Steven Corfield alludes to Midsummer’s Night being like the Milk Tray man, I’ll go for Pink Sands bringing back the memories of the desert atmosphere of Turkish Delight! Remember this…

True Rose is lovely and helps you bring summer indoors. So elegant and classy it captures that essence of a single red rose.

It can’t all be good news though! Beach Wood is one of my favourite fragrances and I was very excited about burning it in large jar form for the first time. Having burned it twice for long periods I have to voice some disappointment over its lack of fragrance. There’s a lovely woody oily note that comes through in the melts clearly, but even after two long burns it was hard to detect much  fragrance from the large jar – just the merest hint. Beach Wood is similar in some ways to ‘man candle’ First Down. However even though First Down isn’t the strongest it had more to it than these first burns of Beach Wood. I’ll have to try again and hope for better results. Pleased with the photo though!

What a contrast Vanilla Clouds was on Saturday night. Whisking you off into the stratosphere on a cloud 9 fantasy Vanilla Clouds has a highly perfumed note balanced off with Vanilla. It’s gorgeous! We are convinced that Vanilla Clouds is a tweaking of the Lakeside Birch Yankee Candle fragrance which is no bad thing.

Pink Dragon Fruit was used to wake up the household on Sunday morning and a fine job it did too. I thought previously that this fragrance was more appropriate to an evening / party type atmosphere but it also performs well early in the morning. The fruity, powdery zestiness is a great pick me up and is reminiscent of a rich blend of fruit juices.

And lastly I closed the weekend off with Midnight Jasmine. It never gets old on summer nights and is the perfect wind down candle at the end of a week.
