BURN REVIEW – WHITE GARDENIA, FARMER'S MARKET, LEMON LAVENDER + more (with photos)

We’re still not in full on Autumn here in jolly ole Southern England. Yes, some leaves are falling off trees and yes, there are some lovely toadstools growing in my garden and we’ve even had the odd bit of rain. But – I’m still walking around in a t-shirt and melting on my conservatory! So the big Christmas Yankee Candle guns stay locked away as do most of the warming autumnal scents and it’s a mixed seasonal bag of Yankee Candle scents used over the past week.

Nature’s Paintbrush is a fresh autumnal scent that is reminiscent of the cool air you’d get on a woodland walk on a windy day. The votive I’ve been using of it is nice and strong and I have really enjoyed burning it in my hallway to give a nice freshened up scent when moving from room to room.

Midweek it was definitely an Indian summer feel. So much so that Strawberry Buttercream came out for another burn. Although the strawberries remind you of full on summer, the thick creamy texture also suits darker evenings. One you want to dip your spoon into – delish!

White Gardenia I can see burning all year round. Its crisp white floral I can envisage suiting any weather. Absolutely love it and if I ever do get around to compiling a ‘my favourite Yankees’ list, this scent will be right up there.

Friday evening is fast becoming ‘First Burn Friday’! This week it was time to debut a retired classic, Farmers Market. There are a few Yankee scents that are reminiscent of getting the harvest in or ripened fruit, but where Farmers Market is unique is in having that twist of spice added. So it is not just enjoying the thoughts of a freshly gathered fruit but also that hint of colder, spicier things on the horizon. Loved it!

Woke up Saturday for a quick burst of a melted Early Sunrise votive (a good way of getting scent out of a votive that isn’t that strong is to break it up and melt chunks in a tart warmer) and we began our Spookytown Halloween set up in the afternoon with Candy Corn. A sneak look here and expect more ghoulish photos as time goes on. Candy Corn is Halloween and drift off to bobbing for apples at an October party!

Saturday night and a tasty Indian meal was accompanied by Salted Caramel. This fragrance is sweet,  but offset by the salted element which gives it a delicious autumnal flavour. It’s actually a nice follow on from Candy Corn. Very strong, it leaps out of the jar at you and fills your whole house with its delicious caramel flavour. A warning here though – never put a cold illuma lid on after you’ve burned for a while. May make perfect sense to you but I’ve ended up with a cracked jar top on my Salted Caramel L - I hope it burns safely in future use.

A cleansing through the household on Sunday morning with the deliciously fresh Lemon Lavender. It is sure to brighten any day and perk things up.

A sunny afternoon saw a welcome return for the fruity and lively Pink Dragonfruit. Very much one in the family of Sparkling Lemon and Fruit Fusion, Pink Dragonfruit though definitely has a ‘pink’ fun feel to it.

And finally as the night drew in, Blissful Autumn gave a creamy and fruity close to the week.
