Ho-ho-ho and here we go!
Last week before Christmas and it is full on festivity in my household with
Yankee Candles as the centrepiece.
I’m sure I’m not the only
one and I hope you all are having an equally wonderful time!
Anyway, lots and lots of
candle fun and from last Friday into the closing countdown stages of my YankeeChristmas planner.
I finished for Christmas
from work last Thursday and kicked off my holiday time with a long luxurious
burn of Cinnamon Stick. This has really become one of my favourites this
festive season. You can really detect the woodsy notes in with the cinnamon.
Glowing into the evening was
Mandarin Cranberry, a throughout the winter warmer. It really is a beautiful
blend of winter fruits.
So onto my continued
Christmas planner and I kicked off Friday morning in style with the delectable
Winter Wonderland. It’s a bright, snowy, creamy, dreamy fragrance – and we both
love it.
This became the day of six
fragrances as I talked about on Twitter, as Yuletide Bayberry also had a melt
in tart form. On first use I could only really pick up the green notes, not so
much the berry, but I’m sure we’ll give it another go.
Sparkling Cinnamon was next
and it is very much Cinnamon Stick’s sweeter cousin.
Then onto our new favourite
(even though it is sadly retired), Red Berry And Cedar. I’ve mentioned its
delicious complexity before so just sat back and enjoyed its full on Christmas
show!
Into the late evening and a
lovely Balsam and Cedar tea light or two brought in some lovely festive smells.
A comforting green fragrance this one, wish I’d been allowed to buy a jar!!
Candle of the night though
was Gingerbread. At first its spiciness reminded me of Vanilla Chai or the
boldness of Salted Caramel, but as time went on the slightly sweet gingeryness
came through. It is a strong scent and the lovely aroma was still around the
following morning.
Into Saturday morning and a
first ever burn for Sparkling Snow. The unseasonably warm and windy weather
means we’ve given up on even a hint of iciness pre Christmas but Sparkling Snow
was still enjoyable. A very creamy blend of vanilla with some light green
notes. Great for the morning.
Christmas Cookie accompanied
me wrapping some presents in the afternoon and this time I did pick up the
biscuity notes promised from smelling the jar cold. Another creamy one, it is a
lovely one to enjoy as darkness descends and you make yourself a lovely cup of
tea or coffee.
Then – calamity of all
calamities I made a mistake in my burning plans on Saturday night. It was
supposed to be North Pole but in error I picked up White Christmas and it
wasn’t for about half an hour I realised the error of my ways (where’s the
mint?!). Anyway White Christmas unusually for a white candle is full on
greenness. You can fantasise as per the picture of being in the grounds of a
wintery church and picking up the green notes of the ancient tree and bush
foliage around.
Waking up Sunday morning to
Snow In Love was a treat. As I mentioned in my video review it is a complex
blend of sweetness, light perfumes and a dash of green. A romantic blend
indeed!
Sugared Apple warmed us on
Sunday afternoon before closing the week with Red Apple Wreath – another change
to the plan! My wife wanted something not too green so the apple and cinnamon
blend (with only the merest green hint!) of Red Apple Wreath fitted the bill.
Not the most overpowering scent but one of the most atmospheric for this time
of year.
More soon!
Have a lovely Christmas.
