Thunderstorms
in January – never seen the like! The unseasonably mild, yet windy weather
continues in the UK and there’s just a hint of extra daylight each day. So just
as we start to fancy a little spring in the air, I am sure we’ll finally get a
cold snap!
But nothing
could deter me and last week I was driven to use one of the new spring
fragrances from Yankee Candle…
Not many
people’s minds are on Halloween in January – but the spooky stuff never stops
for us. So as we were ordering some more pieces to go with our Spookytown
collection, Candy Corn added to the atmosphere!
Mountain
Lodge is definitely one of my favourite scents. Long sold out in jar formats by
the time I got into Yankee Candles, I’ve had to make do with a few votives
which only give you a tease as to what Mountain Lodge has to offer. Following
my own previous tip of using the remnants in my tart burner – WOW – Mountain Lodge
jumps to life. Really strong and perfumed, yet fresh also, Mountain Lodge
smells like a luxury woodland retreat or hotel. It’s kind of like a smoother,
richer Nature’s Paintbrush. I really hope beyond hope that either QVC or Yankee
Candle Europe can get hold of some for the UK fans this year!
The warming
notes of Red Velvet wrapped us up snug on Thursday evening..
..and on
Friday night, Nature’s Paintbrush itself had a burn. Such a lovely smell of the
outdoors, fresh, bold and invigorating – this is definitely one to enjoy
indoors when the elements are doing their thing outside!
Into Saturday
morning and with a clean house (thanks to my wife, not me!) Lemon Lavender
brought its special freshness to the ground floor.
Saturday
night was the treat and time to have a first go at one of the new floral spring
fragrances from Yankee Candle. Lovely Kiku was… lovely! A medium strength
floral, Lovely Kiku has many notes within it. At times sweet, but always
bright - it actually smells Mauve – like
its wax colour. Yet again Yankee have made a candle that smells just how it
looks in terms of colour and the jar picture. Highly recommended if you’ve been
holding off on these new florals so far!
The heaven’s
opened Sunday morning, so the delicate watery tones of River Valley are always
a nice accompaniment.
Back from a
country walk in the afternoon and the toasty sweetness of Fireside Treats was
perfect.
