Now that we’ve
got the post Christmas blues out of the way, I returned to more seasonal
fragrances this week with just the occasional oddity here and there.
Also (cough,
splutter) I’ve had a head cold for most of the week and weekend so my smell
sense was dulled and so I wasn’t inspired to use as many Yankees as usual.
Beginning
the week was a beautiful Snow In Love votive. Snow In Love is the Pink Lady
Slipper of winter for me! It’s not that floral (but there is some in there) but
it is deliciously sweet and also perfume tinged. It’s like a bag of very sugary
sherbety sweets mixed with a hint of lady’s perfume. Totally unique and totally
wonderful!
A Creamy
Caramel tart also had a few uses. Having now had some long experiences with
this scent, it is definitely not quite as strong as its recent brother, Salted
Caramel. However, Creamy Caramel is no shy starlet as it brings deliciously
sweet caramel tones to your room.
Vanilla
Cupcake is a candle I never thought I’d like. Put off for years by other inferior
brands sickly and artificial vanilla fragrances, I thought the full on vanilla
of this candle would be too much for me. However the likes of the lovely Red
Velvet paved the way and I now wholeheartedly enjoy the sweet, yet warming
tones of this fragrance.
Macintosh
Spice was a devil to get to pool across this week. But finally after using an
illuma lid, foil and cutting in at the edge, I got some success! It’s a lovely,
simple yet deep apple fragrance dusted with a very light spice. Not overly
strong but it does bring a warming feel to any room it is used in.
Spiced
Orange was a debut jar burn (I’d only bought it the day before). My smell sense
was disappearing with my cold, but the delicious warm orange tones were
evident. The spice is stronger in Spiced Orange than in Macintosh Spice and its
scent almost brings to mind a really strong, dark marmalade.
Into the
weekend and a glimpse of sunshine brought out my melted votive of Star Fruit And Orange. Now a
firm favourite in our household, it has a real Caribbean feel to its orange
flavour. A million miles from Spiced Orange, this brings to mind warm weather, lots
of fun and exotic fruity punch.
Vanilla Chai
is one of my favourites and has a good strong scent, but I could only pick up
the odd note here and there on Saturday night. Unusually I picked up the
vanilla and sweeter notes this time, reminding me more of the frothy, sweetened
hot latte style drinks. Vanilla Chai is a box of exotic delight!
And finally
to close the weekend, my wife chose Beach Flowers. I couldn’t pick much up
(that’s my senses not the candle!) and burning a full on summer one at this
time of year is really not for me! She loved it though. Oh and I love the
dancing light in this photo…
Anyway, my
head is clearing a bit now so I look forward to enjoying my candle fragrances a
bit more this coming week!
