MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY : NOVEMBER RAIN, MANGO PEACH SALSA,BEACH WOOD and more.. WEEK ENDING 9th Feb 2014

The cycle of storms hitting the UK continues, but out on a walk yesterday daffodil buds are starting to appear, so weather systems aren’t so messed up that nature doesn’t realise that spring is a-coming!

And my candle burning week mixes the water logged atmosphere with hope for warmer and drier days ahead.

I had the day off on Monday so I stated the week with a final burst from a melted Star Fruit and Orange votive. That’s a handy tip – if you don’t get much scent from a votive you can melt it in your tart warmer. But make sure you only use a half of it or less, so that the wax doesn’t overflow. You will get a much stronger scent from the melted votive and it lasts almost as long as a tart.

After some previous disappointment with Beach Wood, a new jar seems to have done the trick! This new large jar seems to be full of its completely unique scent. It is one of the aftershavey type fragrances, but Beach Wood captures an oily, woodsy smell all of its own.

Melted a Pink Lady Slipper tart on Tuesday and this is another unique scent. It is very distinct and feminine, but I love it nonetheless!

Coastal Waters was a long, luxurious treat during a balmy evening. This salty, seaspray fragrance remains one of the best and truest water fragrances that Yankee Candle have made.

To brighten up Friday evening Mango Peach Salsa came out for a burn. It is a lovely exotic peach flavour softened by the mango element.

Mountain Lodge was melted over the weekend. At least I think it was! My wife is convinced that I was using some left over Nature’s Paintbrush. Admittedly the melted Mountain Lodge bore little resemblance to how I remember the light fragrance from the votive – so maybe she was right!

Into the windy afternoon and a debut burn for November Rain which I purchased last week. It is a bold, aftershavey, rainy type fragrance and I’m in love with the very deep blue wax colour.

Saturday night saw a long burn of Midnight Jasmine. Not as pungent as on previous uses, it is still one of the best florals in the Yankee Candle range and suited for any time of year.

Sunday afternoon saw a rare calmness and a lovely sunny late afternoon. Lake Sunset suited the bill after a long walk and its powdery, fruity (Pineapple?) tones are delectable.

And finally Sandalwood Vanilla closed the week with its delicious blend of spicy perfume and creamy vanilla. Always a stunner!
