Spring is in
the air! Well and truly. Even though I keep going for lovely sniffs in my
Yankee Candle Christmas cupboard those memories are well and truly locked away.
And the autumnal warming scents have been put into a base unit, though the odd
warming scent will still come out from time to time during colder nights.
I started
the week with just such an unseasonal scent. The full on patchouli of Witches
Brew is always the perfect accompaniment to a horror film and its mysterious
notes added lots to the atmosphere of classic chiller Black Christmas. (Ok, no
more ‘C’ word, I promise!)
Pink Sands
brings a touch of warmth and exotic fantasy to a room, even in sampler format.
Perfect to go along with a long soak in the bath!
We’ve got
loads of Salted Caramel in the house and Thursday’s burn was definitely the
last for a while. It’s lovely warming, strong notes will be back later in the
year.
Willow
Breeze is a great starter for the day. Its perfumey fresh notes will invigorate
and get you ready for the day ahead.
Vanilla Lime
is like an old friend. To become familiar with its completely unique fragrance
is one of the real pleasures of the Yankee Candle hobby.
On Friday
night it was a first ever burn for Wedding Day. My wife and I spent a good part
of last year poo-pooing this fragrance before somehow realising that we
actually did like it. Like is probably an understatement – we love it! It’s a
sweet mix of white florals tinged with rose. One of the most complex floral
blends there is, I’d love to know what is hidden in the notes of this fragrance.
Not just for weddings!
I used
Garden Time from the new ‘Dream Garden’ range on Saturday. Quite lovely, but
not the strongest fragrance in the world. As the candle burns you pick up a
delicate mix of herbs with a light floral touch. A very clever fragrance and one
that gently lingers in the room.
Saturday
night saw Strawberry Buttercream bring its perfect blend of sweet yet creamy
warmth to our living room. It’s one of the more straight ahead fragrances, but
lovely nonetheless.
Sunday
morning and the treat of Early Sunrise. I just adore its bright, lemony
freshness. It has an ever so slight detergenty feel, but this is nowhere near
as evident as in the likes of Fluffy Towels or Clean Cotton.
And finally
to close the week down with its lush enveloping warmth, the cream tones of Red
Velvet – another old friend that is always welcome in our house.
