Spring
faltered a little towards the end of last week and we had a grey and rather
chilly weekend here in the UK. Of course the tone of my Yankee choices changed
too!
We started
the week trying to finish up our jars of Midnight Jasmine and Blissful Autumn.
Have you ever noticed when you get towards the bottom of a jar, the candles
seem to last forever! Blissful Autumn will represent a major achievement in our
house when we do eventually finish it, as it will be the first large jar we’ve
actually used up!
Lovely Kiku
was used on Thursday when there was still a touch of spring in the air. It isn’t
my favourite this one, but it is a pleasant very sweet floral. I think I find
this one a little too sweet for my tastes.
Friday
started with the lovely, calming, bittersweet fruity notes of Sicilian Lemon.
Into Friday
night and the masculinity of Midsummer’s Night to go along with some very loud
rock music!
My wife put
on a Sage & Citrus melt to start the day on Saturday and very lovely it was
too. We both remarked how unique this scent is. It actually doesn’t have much
noticeable sage or citrus in it, but is like the most individual slightly
creamy aftershave.
Champaca
Blossom followed and I always enjoy this slightly bitter scented floral.
For Saturday
evening we had the delightful notes of Lavender Vanilla. This is such a great
relaxing and warming homely scent.
Into Sunday
morning and the dark grey clouds were rolling and I just couldn’t wait any
longer for a rare burn of Storm Watch. The rain never really came but Storm
Watch left its wonderful fizzy, air of anticipation sharp floral notes
lingering in the atmosphere. It brings to mind for me a fierce downpour on a
summer’s day.
Silver Birch
followed for the afternoon with its pleasant, masculine aftershave notes.
To wrap up the weekend, a poorly performing Vanilla Cupcake. Not normally a shy fragrance
but even with a lot of coaxing we couldn’t get a good wax pool and its smell
wasn’t as strong as it normally is.
Lastly onto our
friends at TEAM YANKEE and my choice of photos from our lovely Yankee fan group
for the week comes from Sarah who burned Cassis for the first time. She described it as a fruity and slightly
floral/perfumed mix.
