Kittredge started Yankee Candle 1969 and the company celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. By 1983 Yankee Candle had reached sales of $1 million and built the manufacturing facility and retail complex in Deerfield, MA. Kittredge sold Yankee Candle in 1998 and the brand has continued to grow rapidly globally since then.
