MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY : PICNIC IN THE PARK, PINK GRAPEFRUIT, STARGAZER LILY, BEACH BLUE and more (we 25 May)

You’ll probably all hate me, but we don’t get anywhere near enough rain where I live. I love a bit of wild weather but it has been so dry lately and I’ve not had the pleasure of using any of my Yankee Candle watery type scents!

Having said which it has still been a lot of fun burning the spring type fragrances and Yankee Candles will certainly help me enjoy my least favourite season (summer) more.

Last week kicked off with a lovely burn of Aloe Water. I just adore this stunning new fragrance. This was the first time we’ve burned it in the evening and it worked just as well as it does as a morning candle. Such a delicious combination of notes – cucumber, melon, aloe and lots of other wondrous things. Just ordered a back up jar!

Red Velvet followed and it really is the smoothest vanilla fragrance of them all. Delish!

A first burn of Stargazer Lily midweek and this was just as lovely as I thought it would be. A very elegant lily aroma and it was wonderful to come down stairs the next morning and have this pleasant fragrance still lingering in the air.

Under The Palms was next and I like it more every time I burn it. Totally captures the imagined feel of being in a luxury cottage on a desert island. The palm and coconut aromas gently waft across you on the  breeze…

A first burn of Pink Grapefruit started the weekend. It’s a nice, sweet, ever so slightly tart grapefruit aroma. A little too simplistic perhaps for my liking, I was a little disappointed with it on first use but it is pleasant enough.

True Rose followed on Saturday afternoon and its rich, red rose aroma is always divine.

And after managing to order another spare of Paradise Spice during the day, we treated ourselves to this candle for Eurovision night. Its strong, spicy banana notes are great fun.

Into Sunday and a gentle welcome into the day with the elegant lemony notes of Early Sunrise.

This was followed with the classic floral watery aroma of Water Garden.

Midsummer's Night was next and it accompanied a long movie night. So adore this scent and it was nice to burn it for a good five hours.

Into Bank Holiday Monday and what a rate treat – Beach Blue! This heavenly seaside aroma is a real favourite with us so we use it sparingly.

And finally to while away the long afternoon, new USA favourite Picnic In The Park. It has a sophisticated creamy fruit aroma with strawberries and mango, yet it is livened up with a touch of fresh greenery. So much so that going into the garden from the conservatory where this was burning was a real treat. Some of the scent travelled with you and I can hand on heart say that Picnic In The Park totally captures the feel of an early summer’s day.
