We’re on a
wax ban at the moment. This means basically we have more Yankee Candles than we
are ever likely to burn through during out lifetime. (On our last check, if we
burned for 4 hours a day we have enough wax for 50 years!)
So during
the past week we only took delivery of 3 large jars (well they were all
duplicate candles at a fantastic price – so they don’t really count) and
purchased a Sicilian Orange World Journeys tumbler from the local garden centre
(well at £10.99 who wouldn’t?). I love wax bans!
Anyway, onto
the burning week and we started off with a delicious burn of Black Coconut. So
strong and exotic, this one is a household firm favourite.
White
Gardenia followed and its crisp gardenia notes are always delightful.
We whisked
off to faraway beachcombing fantasy with the lovely Beach Wood next. Its rich,
oily, perfumed notes are a treat.
French
Lavender is always so refreshing and calming after a busy day.
On Tap is a
real love or hate fragrance. One of the last large jars produced (to date) in
the Yankee Candle ‘Man Candles’ range, this scent is for beer and pub lovers.
At its best, On Tap conjures up thoughts of refreshing shandy in the beer
garden of a country pub. However it does have a slightly flat lager note to it
as well which can put people off. Fortunately we both adore it!
Waikiki
Melon was next and this took a few hours to get going. When it did, its exotic
melony cocktail fragrance was all around the downstairs of our house.
A bit of
James Bond for me in the afternoon and a melt of Mountain Pine went along with
it. This very strong pungent green pine aroma is not for the feint hearted, but
it goes well with 007!
Tropical
Fruit is a pleasant if unexceptional fruity flavour candle. It has the aroma of
a mixed fruit cocktail dessert but perhaps a tad less sweet.
Meadow
Showers got us through rainy Sunday and this is such a perfect scent for a wet
spring or summer’s day. It has light grassy florals mixed with a watery feel,
really nice.
Anyway, back
to the wax ban!
