Ah well, that’s Halloween done with and the ‘C’
celebration is just around the corner! It has been a decidedly mild autumn but
that didn’t stop me getting my first cold of the season, which means I lost
about a week of Yankee burning, hence this two week catch up. I’m back in
action now and looking forward to enjoying some late autumn scents in the lead
up to ‘youknowwhat’.
I had my
first experience of Tarte Tatin in melt form and have to admit to not being a
fan of this one. It reminds me of Warm Spice which I love, but the apple mix in
the scent (with whatever else is in there) didn’t quite work for me.
Honey Glow
is perfect for this time of year, especially if you’ve had a bit of sunshine in
the day as the warmth carries through in this scent.
Silver Birch
remains one of my least favourite fresh/aftershave type scents. It isn’t bad
and it has a slight woodsy feel, but there’s something in there I don’t like!
Ahh,
Blissful Autumn – it has been too long. Delicate vanilla sprinkled amongst rich
autumn fruit and light spice. This scent is always delightful.
I tried a
sampler of Berry Trifle that I was kindly given. It reminds me of Red
Raspberry, so I have to admit to being disappointed with this one. It’s quite
pleasant, just not different enough from what is already out there.
Moroccan
Argan Oil is a fantastic all year round fragrance. The rich exotic oil aroma
make this one unique in the Yankee Candle range.
I just about
picked up November Rain on a gloomy and rainy day before my cold hit. Its
watery perfume notes never disappoint.
A couple of
pics of two of my favourites – White Gardenia and Black Cherry – but I couldn’t
smell a thing. So then a week’s break….
…and finally
back to it with the lovely tangy Sicilian Lemon.
The deliciously
sugary Cotton Candy was next – it is so sticky sweet feeling!
Halloween
was a big treat and I chose four candles to go along with our 8 movie marathon
(11am to 3am – we did well!)
The lovely
orangey spice of Harvest Welcome started the day and complemented the fun at
Crystal Lake (horror fans will know the location well!)
Witches Brew
followed with its fantastic patchouli notes – it really is the perfect
Halloween fragrance.
Candy Corn
of course had to be used on Halloween with all the fun of sweets at an autumn
carnival.
And to wrap
things up as we finished our movie marathon with The Babadook and Psycho II,
Happy Halloween got an annual burn. This aniseed fragrance is very light and
was almost undetectable during the last two films – still it looks nice!
So for
Sunday and time to close down all our spooky fun which we’d been enjoying for
well over a month (yes we should get out more!). Fruit Fusion was my choice to
give a fizzy burst of fresh orange and a different aspect to the house.
In the
evening I tried a couple of tea lights of Winter Glow. It is an absolutely
beautiful light piney scent with a hint of amber – but it seems very light
indeed, so as tempted as I am to buy a jar, I’m holding off (for now!)
