It’s only
just over 6 weeks until Christmas day. Scary stuff! I’m feeling a bit seasonal
and the fantasy feeling of Christmas will be over all too quickly that’s for
sure. I’m still holding off on burning my festive Yankee Candle treats though
until December. I think it will be time to rearrange the display cabinet this
coming weekend though – it’s definitely time to put away those Indian Summer
candles and also get on with my Christmas burn plan!
I started
last week with a Soft Blanket melt, kindly donated after the Yankee gathering
at my house (was it really only 3 weeks ago!). It is the first time I’ve ever
used this fragrance and it is quite pleasant, especially first thing in the
morning. Very comforting!
First jar
burn of the week was Cranberry Pear which is a delicious autumn into winter
scent. The ripened pears are given a festive touch with sweet cranberry. A good
strong thrower this one, I could smell it about 40 feet away upstairs!
For a soggy
bonfire night, I along with many others went for Fireside. It’s as close as you
can get to a fireworks inspired candle. It has a beautiful burned effect tinged
with a masculine cologne scent. Knowing this had been quite light on previous
burns, I made sure it was away from all other possible scent intrusions and I
got a really good throw from it this time around.
Mountain
Lodge was great for a blustery afternoon with its outdoor retreat ambience.
Fireside
Treats continued the bonfire night theme with its delicious smoky marshmallow.
(This photograph is a fluke, I was watching BBC Autumnwatch at the time!)
The wind was
howling and the rain was thrashing on Saturday and that was a good enough
reason to give the lovely Storm Watch a burn. Its bright, powdery, slightly
floral aroma is always a delight. Another good strong one!
We tried a
Bundle Up sampler (another kind gift from the Yankee party) and I quite liked
it. It has a soapy yet almost citrus aroma that I can’t quite put my finger on.
Cosy By The
Fire was a Saturday night treat. I think I’ll enjoy this throughout autumn and
winter. A mixture of orange, spices and a mulled wine feel – it is a real
warming fragrance and it has a great throw.
Wild Fig was
next. My wife hates this fragrance, I don’t mind it. It is unusual as there aren’t
many fig inspired fragrances and it is blended with an almost creaminess which
gives it the slightly odd note I think that half of our household doesn’t like!
To wrap
things up, it was the delicious Autumn Wreath. A lovely mix of cinnamon and
apple, it just feels so perfect for this time of year (along with a glass of
Taylor’s Boltthrower!)
