Hello and welcome again to my regular round up of what's been burning in my household and what my thoughts are on the various scents I've encountered. June was a bit hot and sticky in Southern England with temperatures on a par with or in excess of some areas of the Mediterranean! However we dropped off a bit heat wise towards the end of the month ... but the ever constant is candles, lots of lovely candles! So here we go with a fly through of my highlights from the last month or so.
STAR PERFORMER - FRESH CUT ROSES
Ahh such a classic and it has the scent of an English summer garden. I popped the candle outside for a quick photo before enjoying its delights in the conservatory. One of Yankee Candle's most true to life fragrances, this is the aroma of young rose blooms freshly clipped.
Tropical Fruit has an aroma of ripened mixed fruit. It is fairly nice but not the best fruit fragrance Yankee have done.
Coconut & Vanilla Bean is king of the coconut scents. So warm, lush and rich in aroma.
Midsummer's Night is sooo wonderful. One of my all time favourites, its heady aroma is that of a mysterious summer evening. (The candle aroma is Drakkar Noir, a men's EDT).
Another summer favourite is Paradise Spice. It is full on banana with a spicy twist.
Beach Holiday I've used lots this year (it helps when you've got 3 jars!) Fast becoming one of my favourite seaside 'blue' candles.
...and a true classic. The stunningly beautiful Midnight Jasmine. Another very true to life scent.
A first burn for Rainbow's End. It has a lovely fresh rain washed scent. I was quite pleased with it. (Still hard to believe a couple of years ago people were paying a fortune for this candle!)
Yankee classic after Yankee classic ... White Gardenia! So sad Yankee Candle have retired this stunning fragrance.
Moroccan Argan Oil is one of the most exotic fragrances in the Yankee range. It has such a mysterious quality and you can almost imagine yourself in the world of Arabian nights, Aladdin and the romantic fiction of the mystical east.
Oud Oasis is lovely if a touch sweet. I've become a big fan of Oud since this candle came out, investing in a nice aftershave!
Sun & Sand is much missed but so stunning. You can smell the hot sand mixed with exotic sun lotion!
Sea Salt & Sage was great at cooling off a hot day. It's fresh feel has a hint of sage mixed in.
And for a 3 1/2 hour Led Zeppelin concert (it's on YouTube from the US tour of 1977 - a must for all rock aficcionados!) Turquoise Sky really fit the bill - go Jimmy!
Vanilla Chai is so strong and exotic - one of my all time top 10!
Summer Peach is fresh summer peaches - lovely!
Coconut Bay is one of my wife's favourites. I find it a bit too coconut-y for me. A pure fresh coconut lotion type aroma.
Ocean Blossom is so stunning. A floral kiss as you sail on a calm sea!
And I'm not one for too many Yankee accessories (aside from illuma lids of course!), but this votive holder just had to be bought! A lovely touch of Bahama Breeze for its debut.
Champaca Blossom is such a unique floral. It has a lovely almost creamy white floral smell with a touch of bitterness. I love it.
Sweet Strawberry works so well on a June day. Sticky sweet strawberries - delicious!
Riviera Escape is another of my favourite seaside 'blue' fragrances. Sad it has retired!
And onto the mouthwatering Salt Water Taffy. Like the most delicious bag of confectionary treats you can imagine!
Wild Pansies is one to blow your boots off! This candle is soooo strong and has a deep almost lilac like aroma.
Olive & Thyme is a beautifully delicate candle that has a real touch of the Mediterranean about it!
And end of a jar time. The wonderful and never dull Fireside Treats!
Becoming a regular feature - the sheer awesomeness of Peach & Lavender. A peachy beauty with whispers of Lavender throughout.
Beach Wood has become my sci fi film favourite. It smells a bit like the aroma you'd expect around spaceships (but nicer!) It is oily and aromatic and this went with Star Wars : Rogue One!
Honeydew Melon has a beautifully authentic melon aroma. Another great cooler on a hot day.
And a real treat - Vanilla Clouds! Nothing quite like this fantasy fragrance which has a delicious perfumed note. Drift away.....
Fireside never disappoints. I've missed its exotic burned notes as I hadn't burned it for a while!
And last but not least. On a chilly evening in amongst the hot weather - a taste of what's to come. The bountiful harvest of Farmer's Market. A slightly spiced fruit medley!
Hope you've enjoyed my runthrough and got some inspiration- back soon!
