As I came to write this month's blog, I thought to myself that I didn't have that much to write about. I mean we'd been burning candles, but not as many as usual. Or maybe not that many that I thought I should feature. What a surprise then when I went through my photo album to find all these from July - and these are just highlights! It's funny how quickly you forget just how much you've burned. So far from being a quieter month - I'd better shut up now as there's a ton of scents to get through!!
STAR PERFORMER - EXOTIC BLOOM
This scent is truly something else. So strong and heady yet everything it throws at you is more than welcome. Sophisticated, elegant and rich - "exotic" is the right name for this candle!
Luau Party is a fun fragrance, slightly similar to some of the other fruit combos that Yankee have done. A fruit smoothie on a warm summer's evening!
Sparkling Lemon never ceases to amaze me with its real life 'fizz'. It's the most lemonadey scent Yankee have ever done (yes, even better than those with lemonade in the name!)
On Tap is like a glass of shandy (lager and lemonade). A unique scent - and a fabulous one!
Lake Sunset is divine. As simple as that. One of Yankee Candle's most underrated fragrances.
It's great to have Joseph on board as an admin at TEAM YANKEE on Facebook - his knowledge of Yankee is second to none. With him he hosts 'First Burn Friday' on the group and this was one of my first burns - on a Friday! I really love Island Waterfall. Full of waterlily - it is fresh and yet subtly floral, but it has a great throw.
A huge summer favourite in our house is Beach Holiday. It's a complex blend of watery and seaside notes - close your eyes and you are by the sea!
Vanilla Lime is a true Yankee Candle classic. There's been nothing quite like it before or since. If you haven't tried it - you must!
Mango Peach Salsa has that lovely peach aroma with a little spicy twist. Yankee Candle have threatened to retire this many times over the past few years but it always gets put back in the collection of available scents.
Serengeti Sunset is one of those beautifully delicate scents. So sophisticated and wonderful - but oh so light! When you do pick up its fragrance it is worth any effort and patience, as it is exceptional.
Egyptian Musk was another First Burn Friday choice - I'd only ever had a small jar before. This scent is truly incredible. A warm musky wind across a desert!
Midnight Oasis is a lightish fragrance but it has the most intoxicating perfume. Definitely in the same family as Midsummer's Night, Evening Air, Kilimanjaro Starts etc but all of its own.
Is there a better fruit fragrance than Fruit Fusion? Simple answer - no!
Stars & Stripes is a lovely comforting fragrance. Very, very similar to the classic Home Sweet Home scent.
Summer Peach has the lovely aroma of freshly washed peaches.
Garden Time is a two wick tumbler released as part of a collection about 3 years ago. It uniquely has herby notes in among the floral.
Riviera Escape never disappoints. Wade into that tropical water!
Beach Escape from the Beachside collection from about 6 years ago is exceptional. The whole collection is! It is a fruity yet highly perfumey fragrance.
And this might be the last time I feature Honeydew Melon in my burn diary. We're trying to finish this one off. Its a very pleasant true melon. However I much prefer the similar Aloe Water - which has a lot more going on in the scent!
And the heavens opened! The delicious elegant perfume of Summer Storm to accompany.
Windblown is a wonderful subtle scent with the authentic scent of a windy day. Full of Yankee magic!
People wonder why we don't want the labels changed here in the UK. Here's why, has Early Sunrise's label ever looked so enchanting?
King of summer scents is the beautiful creamy Napa Valley Sun. A truly wonderful creation!
And the smoky white floral Wedding Day is a favourite in our house - a hugely underrated Yankee Candle, it's not just for that special day!
Meadow Showers is the best Yankee scent that captures the atmosphere of a rainy summer garden.
Pineapple Cilantro has grown on me over the years. It's slightly odd idea of pineapple and spice really works - a good strong one too!
Evening Air is always in my all time top 5. The most stunning beautiful perfumed aroma. If evening air really smelled like this - you couldn't keep me in!
First Burn Friday again with Madagascan Orchid. Another that has really grown on me, it has a deliciously rich combination of floral notes with just a hint of honeyed sweetness.
And last but never least, another delicate one in Sea Salt & Sage. Perhaps a little too light but it will change the atmosphere of a room. Something about the really light Yankee scents - they can be extra special because of their subtlety.
