SUMMER'S END - MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY (AUGUST 2017)

Welcome to my Summer's End special - or what August highlights there were in my Yankee Candle burning! As we head into my favourite season of the year, it is time to say farewell to hot sunny days (and plenty of rainy ones too) - and time to put to bed most of my summer Yankee Candles for another year.

Let's start with my Star Performer of the month.....

CITRUS TANGO

This fruit medley is one of Yankee's best and sadly it wasn't available for very long. Think of Yankee's Pink Grapefruit but given a powerful push by lots of other citrus flavours and that's the delight of Citrus Tango!

Rain, I mentioned lots of rain in August. No problem to me - I love the stuff. Turquoise Sky is a beautiful accompaniment to a summer rain shower.

Black Coconut is in our 'use it up' pile. I'm not worried though as I've got two back ups! It is always a luxurious pleasure to burn this scent and it never gets old.

True Rose is so elegant and beautiful at any time of year. One of Yankee's most authentic fragrances.

And always in my all time top 5 is the wonderful Midsummer's Night. The boldest men's aftershave type fragrance. It's dark and mysterious and you can just imagine stepping out doors on a summer's night (with a glass of wine in hand of course!)

Ginger Dusk is a great scent especially for late summer. Its soft spicy ginger notes are livened with lemongrass.

Midnight Jasmine is the all time classic Yankee Candle floral. Another that is very authentic and it never gets boring.

To add spice to any evening there is nothing better than Vanilla Chai. It's the spiciest most delicious medley of exotic notes and not for the feint hearted!

As a non foodie scent lover, I was amazed to like Pain Au Raisin. But it's something different and always reminds me of rum and raisin ice cream.

And for more August blustery days, what better than one of Yankee's greatest ever sea or seaside scents. The salty sea spray of Coastal Waters is so amazing! Time you brought this one back Yankee Candle!!

Another of my favourite seaside scents from the past few years is the delicious Beach Holiday. You can almost feel the gentle waves lapping at your toes with this one!

Sage & Citrus is a unique delight. An unusual blend and all of its own - lovely!

For a real feel of the outdoors in high summer there is little better than Loves Me Loves Me Not.

Fancy a limey cocktail? In my opinion far superior than this year's disappointing Cuban Mojito is Margarita Time. You can smell the salt!

Literally the BEST fruit Yankee Candle ever is Fruit Fusion. So wonderful!

..And Vanilla Lime would give it a run for its money. The sharp lime is softened and sweetened ever so slightly in this dreamy mixture!

Never going to be my favourite but Silver Birch has an unusual aftershave like feel to it. Just never really agrees with my nose for some reason!

Another of my all time favourites is Moroccan Argan Oil. Full on luxurious exotic notes!

My favourite from 2017 is a limited edition release - the wonderful Peach and Lavender. You can smell both key ingredients distinctly in this stunning scent.

Now, when Rainbow's End came back quite a few people said they were disappointed with the fragrance. Not me, I think this is a beautiful soapy 'blue' Yankee Candle and I love using it on rainy or cooler days.

Another never destined to be my favourite is Cranberry Pear. Pleasant on warmer evenings but it doesn't have that much about it.

I just love the hugely underrated Serengeti Sunset. If you can get in tune with it, the scent will bowl you over - but it is very light.

I don't go much for USA outlet type candles but Falling Leaves is a stunner! It's like a woodsier version of the classic Nature's Paintbrush.

Lavender has been a real surprise to me this year. It is so fantastic and it has quite a complex blend of notes.

Fresh Cut Roses and summer go together like ...like... fresh cut roses and summer!

Napa Valley Sun is a beautiful scent like sipping a milkshake on a warm dry grassy hot night (well, that's the best I can do)!

Wild Sea Grass always whisks me off to my favourite place among the sand dunes....

And after a tiring holiday, Riviera Escape welcomed us back (along with another go at Beach Holiday). Another cracking seaside type fragrance.

And September 2nd - autumn!!! Cosy me up with some Red Velvet. I've missed you!

And last but never least a morning wake up with Juicy Watermelon. So dreamy sweet and delicious - and it packs a real punch.

Thanks for reading and see you next month - so excited to get some autumnal fragrances going!
