BURN REVIEW – WILD PASSION FRUIT, JUICY WATERMELON, FLUFFY TOWELS and more! (with brand new photos)

The very hot snap of weather we had had throughout August in the UK finally broke at the end of last week after a final few days of near 30c temperatures (in the South East of England anyway). So, I’m not quite ready to put away the summer candles yet!

I started the week with my favourite hobby a bit of ‘smellscaping’ (see HERE). The final (to date) Pirates of The Caribbean movie with a Bahama Breeze tart wafting around the room. Honestly, it is a match made in heaven!

I used a Juicy Watermelon sampler throughout the week and it gives off a light, pleasant fruity smell. As usual hard to glean from a votive candle what the whole fragrance would have been like (Juicy Watermelon is of course long retired).

Beach Flowers was the first proper candle of the week and this was to accompany the last heat wave of the summer. Just beautiful.

Another bit of smellscaping as we used Midnight Jasmine to accompany the wonderful Sweeney Todd movie (yes it was a bit of a Johnny Depp week!) and here’s a nice screenshot.. (thanks to the Yankee Army for all the suggestions as to which candle to use with the film!)

Into the weekend and a first burn for Wild Passion Fruit. Much fruitier that it’s votive counterpart, it was a pleasant blend of light citrus sweetness.

I always said that I would never like the ‘clean’ fresh range of Yankee Candles. However I buckled and got hold of a jar of Fluffy Towels to try. For an early morning, start the day clean feel Fluffy Towels was lovely. It is like you have just brought in the washing and makes your house feel fresh and clean (even if it isn’t!)

Island Spa was the Saturday evening treat and its fizzy notes brings to mind Sparkling Lemon and Fruit Fusion, but it is greener both in look and scent than those two. A lovely, enlivening fragrance.

On to Sunday and the sun was trying its best to battle through. Paradise Spice lifted the spirits on this gloomy day and I like it more each time I use it. It’s easy to describe the strong banana element but there is a lot more to it than that. The creaminess and undercurrent of spice make Paradise Spice exotic and warming, as well as deliciously sweet.

And finally, it was a beautiful sunset on Sunday evening. The PERFECT time for Lake Sunset as you can see from the photo below. An end of summer, early autumn feel with a lovely cooler evening. Lake Sunset brings its delicious fruity, powdery notes into the atmosphere and its warmth gives a real feeling of relaxation and kicking back at the end of the week.
