BURN REVIEW – WITCHES BREW, MANDARIN CRANBERRY, BLUE SATIN SASHES and More!

I started the week with a burn of a Macintosh votive. This pure, sweet apple scent has been brought back to the UK by Yankee Candle for a limited time and is available via their official website.

It was lovely to experience Beach Wood once again in melt form. I have had problems with little or no scent from my large jar but as usual the melt gives plenty of Beach Wood’s unique woody, spicy tones.

The arrival of October means only one thing – Halloween time! A first burn for the lovely Witches Brew jar, although I have experienced the scent many times in votive form. The perfect Halloween scent with its notes of Patchouli.

And we head back into Indian Summer territory later in the week so it seems appropriate for a burn of True Rose. It went down well when I featured it recently as a ‘Yankee Candle Of The Day’ so I was inspired myself to use the candle. Its beautiful clean rosy smell is hard to beat and it is sure to add a touch of elegance to your surroundings whatever the season.

First burn on Friday night was Blue Satin Sashes which is part of the increasingly hard to get hold of ‘My Favourite Things’ collection. Blue Satin Sashes has a bright lemony feel about it and it may not be a million miles from the popular Lemon Lavender fragrance. I can see using this more in the daytime to brighten up the house in future.

After a very busy day on Saturday, Black Coconut was the perfect wind down for the evening. An unseasonably warm night, Black Coconut helped reinvigorate my tired bones and it gives a wraparound feeling of absolute luxury.

Sunday was also very warm and one of my all-time favourites Beach Walk came out (of the cupboard!) possibly for a final hurrah this year. Sadly the best of all beach fragrances has just been retired. (Details on the latest batch of Yankee Candle retirements here).

And finally as the night drew in on Sunday, we needed something to provide a warmer tone. So it was a first burn for one of our Mandarin Cranberry jars. Not as overpowering as it is in melt form (and that’s a good thing), its gentle warming notes were perfect to complement the cooling evening while giving a taste of the festive season just around the corner.
