MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY – WITCHES BREW, LAKE SUNSET, MIDNIGHT OASIS, WEDDING DAY and more (w.e. 28 Sep)

Ah, my favourite part of the week again, just writing about Yankee Candles. The subject never gets old to me!

Started last week with a melt of Lavender Vanilla. Quite nice, but the tart was weakening. That’s one of the main downsides of tarts for me, the scent thins out. With a jar you get the same scent on your first burn right through to your last.

A nice bold scent for Tuesday with the scrummy Vanilla Cupcake. I used to hate vanilla candles pre Yankee and couldn’t be in the same room when one was on. Yankee Candles have no artificial feel to them though and Vanilla Cupcake is a prime example. It’s  rich and sweet, yet not overly so - a fresh baked cake scent. Love it!

Midsummer’s Night followed perhaps its last burn for a while. The lovely masculine aftershave notes fill the room with a sense of mystery and the exotic.

Wedding Day went along with the QVC Yankee Candle show on Thursday night. This has become a firm favourite in our house whatever the occasion. It’s a musky white floral mix with a hint of perfumed sweetness – a great contrast to the night before’s Midsummer’s Night!

Lake Sunset saw in the weekend Friday evening. A perfect indian summer fragrance, it’s fresh yet  fruity notes work well on a warm September evening.

A Macintosh melt started the day on Saturday with its pure, freshly picked apple scent.

To inspire us in putting up our annual Halloween Spookytown display (it’s a long story but more soon!) Witches Brew was a must. This decadent sweet patchouli scent, is perfect for the build up to Halloween.

Salted Caramel was on at the same time at the other end of the house and soon filled the downstairs. Had to blow this one out first as nothing wins the battle of scents against Salted Caramel! It has to be the strongest scent Yankee Candle currently do.

The calming notes of Sicilian Lemon gently brought in Sunday.  A lovely, light scent that has the aroma of lemon peel – it is best to burn this in a quiet room as it more often than not will get lost in a busy environment.

Midnight Oasis followed and this lighter aftershave scent is another favourite of ours. Very exotic and offbeat, it certainly should whisk you off to a luxurious midnight escapade in your mind!

While we were watching a movie on Sunday night, we finished the week with a lovely melt of Midnight Jasmine. It brought back memories of our recent holiday as we used this in the warmer in our hotel room.

And lastly, this week’s guest picture from our lovely Team Yankee Global Facebook Group! It comes from Yasmin and it is a beautiful portrait of the brand new limited edition fragrance for Europe - Winter Garden. Thanks Yasmin!
