MY YANKEE CANDLE DIARY : BUNNY CAKE, EXOTIC BLOOM, GREENHOUSE, LOVES ME LOVES ME NOT, FRANKINCENSE and more! (to 6 April)

A short working week, meeting some lovely Yankee friends, Easter, a Bank Holiday Monday and Yankee Candle shows with USA fragrances on QVC what’s not to love?! Well typically I came down with a cold over Easter which reduced my scent enjoyment somewhat, but luckily nothing like the bouts of flu I suffered with over winter.

I started the week with a melt of the totally unique delights of Sage and Citrus and followed this with the usually equally delightful Vanilla Satin. It wasn’t that strong this time around and I’ve begun to notice that fairly often burns from the bottom half of jars don’t give off as much scent as those from the top half. Never known Vanilla Satin be shy before and we only got hints of its velvety luxuriousness.

No such trouble with Frankincense which is a true to life fragrance that whisks you off in your imagination. Whether it is to a heady, incense filled room from days gone by or to an exotic Asian bazaar, this spicy rich scent is great.

Into Good Friday and with things clean and tidy, Fluffy Towels provides the final touch. It’s lovely slightly lemon notes have the warmth and feel of clean washing and add to a spruced up home.

Loves Me Loves Me Not followed and you dream off to worlds of daisy chains, carefree days and spring meadows. One of the very best spring fragrances in my view.

Fireside followed for the evening and this time I made sure it was not distracted by any other odours (so no perfume or food anywhere near it). It’s exotic, burned aftershave feel was much more noticeable this time around.

Got the opportunity to try some Celebrate fragrance which we melted. To me it is like a lemony vanilla cupcake, so quite pleasant if not wildly different to a few other Yankee Candle fragrances.

Into Easter Saturday and the lovely, unusual Vanilla Lime. Equal hits of icy cream and sharp lime always make this a delight to burn.

Moroccan Argan Oil was disappointing this time around. Couldn’t get any throw from it at all and had to stand right over the jar to pick up its delightful scent. Like Fireside, I think this very light scent needs to be used in a very quiet environment with no other aromas anywhere near it. A shame really that it isn’t stronger as when you do pick up the aroma, it is amazing.

To start Easter Sunday was Cherry Blossom, my choice for the TEAM YANKEE first Sunday of the month group burn.  Ann’s theme this month was a fragrance that reminds you of spring and for me this is the number 1 spring fragrance of all time. Couldn’t smell much due to my cold appearing, but my wife said it was as delightful as ever!

Bunny Cake took us through the afternoon and through Easter lunch. Lovely soft vanilla notes and with almost a pink icing feel.

Into Bank Holiday Monday and a long burn of Ocean Blossom on our warm conservatory. It got a little lost but I picked up some of its delightful floral, ocean spray notes.

Greenhouse followed and it is quite similar to Loves Me Loves Me Not. As it burns longer though a variety of green notes come through. Very lovely and you can almost smell the garden growing with this fragrance!

To finish off the holiday with the sun setting and my senses clearing, Exotic Bloom did the trick. This heady fragrance has more than a little in common with Storm Watch but with an added touch of perfumery. Really nice and a good strong scent.
