Lucky me,
still on holiday from work! Here’s a quick catch up of my burns over the
festive period…
As per my
Christmas Planner, I started Christmas Eve with North Pole. This was my biggest
disappointment last year as I couldn’t get any scent, but this year it worked
and I fully got its deliciously creamy mint aroma. My tip for lighter scents is
burn them when it is a quiet day with no other smells (such as cooking, pets
etc) around.
Gingerbread
was next and then into
Christmas Eve night which was a sad time for us as we had to have our beloved
pet cat put down that afternoon. Our neighbour came in though and lifted our
spirits slightly and the lovely fruity plum scent of Christmas Eve was all
around.
For a busy
day like Christmas Day it had to be a scent that could hold its own. So while
the dinner was cooking, I used Cranberry Ice for the first time. A delicious
tart cranberry with that lovely icy touch – it worked a treat in our dining
room.
For Christmas
Day night I went for Winter Wonderland which I’d not been able to keep up with
on my burn schedule! Its aroma is a lovely perfumey mint and the jar image is
one of Yankee’s best.
Into Boxing
Day with the soft piny notes of Sparkling Snow.
This was followed
in the evening by the warming loveliness of Spiced Orange.
Enjoyed
some Holiday Home Sweet Home votives over Christmas to use them up. The festive
twist on Home Sweet Home is lovely.
We then had
Christmas Tree with some family members visiting and a last switch on for our
decorations.
My sister
bought me a lovely jar of Angel’s Wings as a gift so I lit this on the 28th.
Enjoyed it much more in the jar than in the votive I had previously tried. It
is sugary and sweet but with a delicate perfume and hint of floral.
On the 29th
we started with Winter Garden as it was a frosty morning. Both me and my wife
love this scent. A beautiful wintery green aroma with hints of vanilla and
other perfumed notes.
The strong
powdery sharpness of Christmas Rose followed.
For the
evening I went for the delicious fruity light spice of Red Apple Wreath.
On the
morning of the 30th, Cinnamon Stick gave us a good strong wake up call!
The lovely
biscuity vanilla notes of Christmas Cookie saw us through the evening.
For New
Year’s Eve, Sicilian Lemon’s lovely tartness started the day.
For the
evening and a stack of super sitcom Vicious we went with the decadent perfume
of Midnight Oasis!
New Year’s
Day kicked off with a fresh sharp blast from a Willow Breeze tart.
And the afternoon
choice was Wild Fig which is causing some divisions. I love its figgy sweet
notes a lot, but my wife doesn’t like it at all. Can see I’ll be burning this
one in private from now on!
Finally to
wrap up New Year’s Day, the sumptuous fruitiness of Black Cherry!
Hope you
all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and I’ll be back with the normal run of
blogs in a week or so.
Happy New Year.
